We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manager of Technology Innovation to join Sysco Corporation a Fortune 100 company. Our company is the largest food distributor in the world, operating on a global scale. As the Senior Manager of Technology Innovation, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of the food distribution industry by leveraging emerging technologies and driving innovative solutions. You will be at the forefront of technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, IoT, Edge compute, Robotics, big data/analytics, quantum compute and more, to drive business solutions for areas like food traceability, real-time POS interface, digital (paperless) driver solutions, wearable devices in our warehouses, and increasing efficiencies by reducing stretch miles in the supply chain, geo-finder/mapping visualization. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing Sysco’s operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer experience in the food distribution sector.

As the Senior Manager of Technology Innovation, you will be responsible for collaborating and coordinating technology innovation initiatives across various domains partnering with internal and external stakeholders. Your primary focus will be on co-innovation with software companies, IT service partners, and engagement with venture capital firms. You will also help establish and manage partnerships with universities and academia, oversee ideation processes, and review technology trends with the ultimate goal to leverage these emerging technologies to solve business challenges and drive the Sysco’s growth and competitiveness for years to come.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Co-innovation and Partnership Development:

  • Collaborate with software companies, IT partners, and venture capital firms to identify co-innovation opportunities.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with external organizations to enhance technology innovation.
  • Work with appropriate internal teams and external stakeholders, to evaluate and negotiate IP portfolio and deal structures to maximize the company's competitive advantage.

University and Academia Partnerships:

  • Foster relationships with universities and academic institutions to engage in collaborative research projects.
  • Identify opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization of research outcomes.
  • Support student-led research initiatives, capstone programs, and on-campus presentations.

Ideation and Innovation Processes:

  • Promote ideation and brainstorming sessions to encourage innovation within the organization based on technological advancements in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, IoT, Edge compute, Robotics, big data/analytics
  • Organize and facilitate hackathons, competitions, and other innovation-focused events.
  • Publish whitepapers and organize lunch-n-learn sessions to share knowledge and insights.

Technology Trends and Business Challenges:

  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in Customer experience, edge compute AI, robotics, automation, blockchain, IoT, quantum compute, etc.
  • Conduct research and analysis to understand the potential application of new technologies within the company.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve business challenges using innovative technology solutions.

Technology Implementation and Execution:

  • Effectively communicate tech trends to our senior executive leadership, presenting insightful strategies on how to apply technology to address various business issues.
  • Help develop business cases and implementation plans for technology innovation projects.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and adoption of new technologies.
  • Monitor project progress and provide guidance to teams to ensure timely delivery and achievement of goals.

Education Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, engineering, business, etc.). A master's degree is preferred.

  • A master's degree is preferred.

Experience Required:

  • 10+ Years of experience including management or supervisory
  • Proven experience in technology innovation, strategic partnerships, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of emerging technologies such as AI, robotics, blockchain, IoT, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex business challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills in articulating complex technical concepts in a clear and concise manner, ensuring that our leadership team fully grasps the potential impact of these innovations to our business.

Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong collaboration skills to engage, consult and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire others.
