The SME is responsible for development of models to provide modeling solutions to Discover’s businesses. Designs and develops models, utilizing machine learning and other algorithms. Presents the results of mathematical modeling and data analysis to management or other end users. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

Responsibilities

Researches and leverages state-of-the art modeling techniques; champions modeling innovation. Leverage state-of-the-art NLP methodologies, develop, and architect innovative solutions using ML and Gen AI Build, fine-tune, optimize, and implement large language models.

Develop and refine NLP models for business solutions such as question answering, information extraction, image-to-text, voice-to-text, etc Stay up to date with the latest trends in NLP and AI research and integrate them into business solutions. Leverages extensive, deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive the development of data science solutions and implements data-driven recommendations and outcomes.

Maintains a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques, and supports the advancement of the best-in-class analytical capabilities to unlock new capabilities and performance, and quickly adapts to modern modeling techniques. Demonstrates technical knowledge in analytical tools. Presents modeling and data analysis to management and other business partners.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you: Master's Degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative field 4+ years of experience in developing data-based analytical solutions, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

If we had our say, we’d also look for: PhD in Computer Science, Linguistics, AI, or a related field with a focus on Natural Language Processing, with 2+ experience in Natural Language Processing in industrial or academic setting or equivalently, master’s with 4+ years of applied or academic experience in Natural Language Processing Strong understanding of deep learning architectures relevant to NLP and Large Language Model (LLM).

6+ years of experience in the financial service industry and modeling, or related field Experience working with GenAI and/or Large Language Model specializing in AI Generative Context Experience developing NLP models to address business use cases including question and answer, text summarization , information extraction, image-to-text, voice-to-text, etc.

Experience fine-tuning pre-trained language models such as Encoder -Decoder models such as GPT, BERT or training LLMs from scratch. #LI-LG1 Compensation: The base pay for this position generally ranges between $128,000.00 to $179,200.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
