As the leader of Nextdoor’s Feed organization, you’ll be supporting the team that owns the core product of our company: our landing page and the one where 80+% of our revenue comes from! In this role you’ll connect the work of the Feed engineering teams with cross-functional partners and with key related products such as Notifications, Ads and For-Sale-and-Free.

Feed Engineering is an organization of 20-30 engineers distributed across the US with main hubs in San Francisco and New York. With frontline managers in place, this position is a manager-of-manager that will align the engineer teams in its sphere of influence of ~60 people.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Set the vision for the Feed Engineering organization, establish engineering excellence practices and consistently deliver high quality features in a timely manner
• You’ll hire outstanding talent and develop the engineering resources in the organization
• You’ll own and drive operational metrics about the performance of Feed and identify opportunities for increasing neighbor’s satisfaction with Feed
• You’ll partner closely with Feed ML leaders to deliver a tightly integrated Feed user experience, infrastructure and best in class AI/ML powered relevance system
• Participate in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
• Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values 

What You’ll Bring To The Team

• 2+ years of managing engineering managers with 5+ years of people management and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
• Track record of hiring, building and developing high performance engineering teams
• Experience relevance-driven and/or user-generated content product development
• Bring a deep empathy for customer needs and insights as well as an intuitive grasp of the business problems we’re trying to solve
• Comfort working across the product development spectrum: strategy, ideation, concept work, pixel-level details across all platforms (mobile, web & infrastructure)
• Track record of guiding engineering operations (monitoring, alarming, sev, post-mortem, etc) for teams owning mission critical products
• Experience with Feed/Timeline products is a big plus

Compensation, benefits, perks, and recognition programs at Nextdoor come together to create one overall rewards package.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $230,000 to $330,000 on an annualized basis, or potentially greater in the event that your 'level' of proficiency exceeds the level expected for the role. Compensation may also vary by geography.

We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
