The Bloomberg Core Application team empowers our customers to make crucial financial decisions in their daily workflows. Our team accomplishes this goal by providing seamless access to Bloomberg’s universe of Market Data and services in the customer’s complex analytics consumed on cross-platform proprietary spreadsheet models. As the financial markets move, our customers can confidently make informed choices as their models recalculate automatically.

Our engineering team works on greenfield projects adhering to principles of open communication, and collaboratively debating diverse design ideas. With a focus on usability, reliability, and efficiency, we build services, spreadsheet custom functions, and single page web applications to support over 300K monthly customers making over 4 billion requests. As business needs evolve, the team continuously re-evaluate technology choices and adopt next gen open source tools on Microsoft desktop/mobile/cloud platforms that best address the customer’s workflow needs.

Your Role

Bloomberg offers our customers the Bloomberg Query Language (BQL), a financial domain language that executes complex analytics in the Bloomberg Cloud. As a member of this team, you will work on driving client adoption of BQL by developing simple and user-friendly query authoring tools to create rich syntactically and semantically correct expressions. Your responsibility will also include developing services and APIs in the stack to support this initiative.

To achieve this goal, we’ll rely on your unique background, perspective, and technical expertise to overcome complex expression parsing and discoverability hurdles to make the next generation of BQL expression authoring tools intuitive, responsive and performant. Your contribution will have a significant impact on daily workflows of Bloomberg customers seeking to use BQL in their proprietary models.

You'll need to have:

• 4+ years working in modern C++ or Javascript/TypeScript
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, similar field of study or equivalent work experience
• Honest approach to problem-solving, and ability to collaborate with peers, partners and management to develop high quality scalable solutions using a test driven approach

We'd love to see:

• Experience with SPA frameworks (e.g. React/Redux)
• Experience with Microsoft Office Extensibility technologies (e.g. Office.JS, Custom Functions)
• Experience building GraphQL/REST services

Salary Range: 160,000 - 240,000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
