Job Description

The Chewy Product and Customer Analytics team is looking for an experienced Staff Business intelligence engineer to support our product team(s) in Boston, MA. In this role, you will work closely with the Site Experience, Product, UX, Marketing, Merchandising, Data Engineering and Snowflake Business Intelligence teams to:

• Develop keen understanding of customer onsite/in-app behavior
• Manage team of BIEs, responsible for building dashboards and reports and providing ad-hoc analyses and insights for improving customer experience and conversion rate
• Use analysis and insights to inform the site experience and product teams’ roadmaps

What You’ll Do:

• Design, develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance reports/dashboards/BI solutions for tracking customers behavior on website and mobile app
• Implement data ingestion routines both real time and batch using best practices in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes
• Manage team that provides on-line reporting and analysis using business intelligence tools and a logical abstraction layer against large, multi-dimensional datasets and multiple sources
• Mentor team members to gather business and functional requirements and translate these requirements into robust, scalable, operable solutions that work well within the overall data architecture
• Build structure and processes to produce and maintain comprehensive, usable data set documentation, metadata, BI reports, dashboards and insights
• Ensure analytics implementation provides crystal-clear visibility into the impact and the value of new features and functionality
• Build insights and create recommendations via written and verbal communications that can be understood by a broad audience
• Establish & maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
• Develop analytics talent by guiding and properly prioritizing business opportunities and problems to solve

Who You Are:

• Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience with detailed knowledge of BI data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools
• 8+ years of experience with BI/visualization tools like Tableau/BO/OBIEE
• 5+ years of work experience in building self-serve BI solutions, canned reports and enterprise level BI solutions
• 3+ years of experience with data modeling in large Data warehousing, data lake environment
• Exposure to Big Data stack environments (EMR, Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive)
• Good analytical skills with excellent knowledge of advance SQL
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Bonus:

• Experience with Python and/or ETL automation tools
• Experience with ecommerce data
• Master’s or advanced degree in a quantitative, marketing or technical field
