In this role you will be responsible for designing the look and feel of infotainment, instruments and head-up displays of future Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

You are a highly creative mind with the constant urge to try something new. You possess exceptional animation and visual design skills with an obsession for detail and have the gift to inspire stakeholders as well as other team members. You will work as a core member of a multi-disciplinary team (internal, external and international) to bring innovative ideas and concepts to life with stunning designs. Doing so you will lead the design process from early concept development to implementation into concept and

production vehicles.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver best-in-class user interface designs using the iterative design and development process, in partnership with other teams/groups.
  • Create fresh, innovative and inspiring motion graphics that elevate the Mercedes-Benz digital design language and wow customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop interactive prototypes and presentations in close collaboration with the team.
  • Be always at the forefront of new tools and design processes.
  • Design research and strategy, keeping abreast of social, cultural, and technological trends and developments.
  • Creative collaboration, project coordination, partner relations, and general team support.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication Design, Media Design, Interaction Design, Animation Design, Industrial Design or related
  • •5+ years of experience in related field
  • Excellent Motion Design skills proven by an outstanding showreel or portfolio
  • Mastering of 3D & Motion Design process with tools like Cinema4D or Blender or Maya, Houdini, AfterEffects, Premiere and industry standard render engines & plug-ins
  • Fluent in design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch etc
  • Experience in Unreal and/or Unity is a big plus
  • Interactive prototyping capabilities with standard tools is a plus
  • Understanding of hardware/software/service design challenges including mobile and tablet form factors
  • Solid project coordination and leadership skills
  • This position does require regular, on-site work in our Carlsbad Design Studio. There are flexible working guidelines in place to accommodate a hybrid schedule however regular presence in the studio is necessary for professional development and team collaboration.
  • Frequent use of speech, vision, hearing for computer use, typing and occasional driving. Frequent sitting, standing and reaching with hands.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in award-winning animation or VFX studios
  • Strong track record of projects in automotive or entertainment industries (movies, gaming)
  • Industry shaping 3D and motion design expertise with procedural knowledge
  • Advanced 3D real-time skills (Unreal/Unity) with VR/AR experience

Additional Information:

The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on a wide range of factors, including, but not limited to, job-related education, skills, and experience, geographic location, and market conditions. The current salary range for this position is as follows and may be modified in the future: $120,000 - $150,000
