Alert Innovation, now powered by Walmart, is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

Walmart is looking for an experienced Simulation Engineer to apply best in class simulation methods for the company’s automated micro fulfilment systems. You will work within a group of simulation engineers to co-develop and maintain simulation models of various system layouts and investigate how to improve system performance. The position will interface with the concept design team to run various scenarios and with product teams to influence technology development.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

• Design, develop, and maintain models for Walmart’s Micro Fulfilment Centers and relevant environments to support future deployments
• Help define best in case simulation modeling and analysis capabilities
• Investigate various traffic management and control theories to improve Alphabot capabilities
• Help maintain alignment between simulation logic and deployed software to ensure synchronization of control approaches between real system and simulation

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• Expert in translating complex automated systems into simplified, abstract simulation models
• Industry leader in defining and optimizing control strategies for automated material handling systems, including; traffic control, path planning, handling of competing demands for resources, speed control, deadlock prevention, task assignment strategies, interdependencies between layout and control strategies
• Ability to analyze and consolidate performance and log data of automated material handling / logistics systems in order to provide the basis for decision making, experience in applying advanced mathematical calculations and statistics to handle and analyze large sets of data to investigate system behavior and performance
• Ability to prepare and present data and results to communicate concepts, approaches and conclusions with other team members
• Ability to work with all engineering departments and influence through data and reason
• Experience modelling, simulation and analysis of complex, automated material handling systems with simulation software, Anylogic strongly preferred
• Programming experience, Java preferred
• Simulation experience (3+ years). AnyLogic (preferred) or similar
• Degree(s) in Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or related
