Alert Innovation, now powered by Walmart, is a fast-growing venture on a mission to reinvent retail through robotics. We’ve partnered with Walmart to develop our Alphabot® technology, which is currently being deployed at stores throughout North America.

You will join the electrical engineering bot team, helping with the design, manufacturing, testing, troubleshooting and deployment of all electrical systems within the Alphabot. This position will also support the firmware design, diagnostics tools and test code for hardware verification.

This job will have a high visibility within the organization, with day-to-day technical challenges like system troubleshooting, customer interfacing, multidisciplinary problem solving, proof of concept test jigs, etc.

The electrical engineering team is responsible for the full lifecycle design of all electrical systems in the Alphabot from concept to full production and obsolescence.

This role is for firmware design, however, due to the multidisciplinary nature of robotics, it also requires working electrical, mechanical and software systems.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON:

• Design and implement firmware/diagnostic tools for verifying hardware.
• Develop and design new prototype devices.
• Design systems using electrical, mechanical, and software development skills
• Design proof of concept test fixtures for electro-mechanical systems.
• Run our diagnostics and other testing software to debug issues.
• Regression testing of diagnostics and new hardware.
• Debug hardware and software issues.
• Develop code to perform proof of concept of hardware using new technology.
• Support transfer of FW and SW to contract manufacturer.
• Operate lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, and power supplies.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

• BS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years experience.
• Experience with Python and C.
• Familiarity with working in Linux.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Detail oriented and a team player
• Fast learner.
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-moving environment.
• Good to have, working knowledge of Altium layout and schematic tools to design printed circuit boards.
