Senior Software Engineering Manager - AI/ML (Bangalore)

What You’ll Achieve

As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for managing the activities of our software development team(s) for the software application enhancements and new products. You will work with internal and external partners on the analysis, solutions, design, and development of AI/ML initiatives. You will help your teams put their best effort possible by creating enabling environments.

You will:

• Establish goals and expectations for team members and leaders that align with company policies and standards
• Hire & scale AI/ML team (data scientists and data engineers)
• Coach and mentor team members and leaders to help identify and achieve career growth opportunities.
• Plan, prioritize, and coordinate development activities and delivery
• Monitor progress, identify challenges, and recommend adjustments to the plan based on actionable engineering metrics
• Foster an environment that enables teams to collaborate and achieve results while maintaining a healthy work-life balance
• Be accountable for outcomes and culture across multiple teams
• Possess good understanding of data science & data engineering, and take of ownership architectural / technical foundations
• Advocate to maintain and advance Technical Excellence, e.g. Observability, Scalability, and Stability
• Iterate and contribute to a system that allows teams to focus on value creation
• Mentor team members in their professional growth
• Lead an agile and lean development practices
• Evangelize Data Science, CI/CD, and DevOps principles as core deliverables
• Develop and maintaining large-scale software systems in production
• Have written & verbal communication including one-on-ones with team members, and asynchronous communication with other teams
• Deliver results & business value rapidly

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in people leadership
• 14+ years experience in software development
• Prior experience in working with Sagemaker (or other AI/ML tools like NumPy, Pandas, TensorFlow, SciPy, Pytorch, H20, etc), AWS, Data Lakes
• Experience in creating AI/ML models & understanding the lifecycle
• Familiarity with change management approaches for rolling out organizational changes
• Basic understanding of Application Integration
• Ability to code in Python and/or in Java
• Familiarity with highly scalable, high throughput web applications and backend systems
