In Commercial Strategy, Insights, and Analytics, we are internal consultants to key functions across the business, including Hilton's Customer, Brands, Marketing, Digital, Revenue, and Sales organizations, with specialized support for the executive leadership team. The team consists of both embedded authorities who serve as strategic advisors to key partners and technical specialists who are proficient in advanced analytics techniques and tools. The team is integrated with the business functions to ensure close partnership and to optimally measure and drive company performance.

What will I be doing?

The Data Science Team brings predictive and prescriptive analytics through Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), and Artificial Intelligence (AI). You will be an experienced developer driving development of statistical models for a production ready state and supporting their integration and implementation in our systems.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with data scientists and technical teams to understand code base and statistical implementations of the algorithms in our models, analyze, design, and develop the production ready code.
  • Partner with other functional teams to access data elements, understanding the data being analyzed, and identifying improvement opportunities for the development process.
  • Design/Redesign development code, plan for comprehensive test cases for sophisticated models, and prepare for deployment in the big-data environment.
  • Develop data science models associated with structured and unstructured data in creative and novel ways, and operate with significant autonomy
  • Provide technical advice to other team members and senior management, and lead model development of data science projects.
  • Write test cases for data science development code.
  • Participate in design reviews with peers and data science engineering team to decide among available technologies for applications.
  • Review and own code base developed by data scientists for production level quality and provide recommendations to ensure standard processes (eg, style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Provide support to triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on operations and quality.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Four (4) years of academic/educational experience in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or other technical fields
  • Four (4) years of experience in software development and data structures/algorithms
  • Five (5) years in Python with production-quality code
  • Four (4) years of professional/industry experience in implementing, testing, and deploying, and maintaining data science and advanced analytics production models
  • Three (3) years with cloud infrastructure and MLOps tools such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Solid experience in JIRA and Bitbucket, Python packaging and shared libraries, code documentation, design patterns, and SDLC lifecycle for Agile & Waterfall methodologies

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, a related technical field.
  • Five (5) years with modeling techniques such as statistical analysis, regression models, optimization, machine learning models, NLP, etc.
  • Three (3) years working in a complex, matrixed organization involving multi-functional, and/or cross-business projects.
  • Experience building and developing large-scale data-science architecture and/or infrastructure.
  • Experience with other programming languages, for example, java and/or C++
  • Three (3) years building and maintaining machine learning and optimization models in production.
