Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

• Develop operational and historical analytics, predictive analytics, machine learning, and apply artificial intelligence algorithms.
• Defines validity of information, how long the information is meaningful, and what other information it is related to
• Recommends ongoing improvements to methods and algorithms that lead to findings, including new information
• Work with businesses to obtain an understanding of complex business problems and propose technical solutions.
• Help the organization understand the principles and the math behind the process to drive organizational buy-in.
• Presents and depicts the rationale of their findings in easy-to-understand terms for the business
• Create probabilistic and statistical models
• Provides ongoing tracking and monitoring of the performance of decision systems and statistical models
• Ensures that the information used complies with the regulatory and security policies in place
• Interact cross-functionally to deliver high-quality software products
• Ensure strong commitment to milestones, quality, and deliverables

QUALIFICATIONS

• Track record of successfully applying machine learning models in practice and at scale
• Advanced experience coding with Python (preferable, experience with Pandas preferred) and R for machine learning
• Experience with big data visualization and BI
• Experience with large datasets (>1 GB) with missing and noisy data in transportation/logistics or similar industry
• Experience with time-series alignment from heterogeneous data sets
• Working knowledge of different machine learning algorithms
• Ability to integrate open-source machine learning and proprietary algorithms with existing data workflows
• Be interested in learning and applying new big data toolsets and frameworks.
• Well-versed in advanced probability and statistics
• BS or MS in a computer science-related field.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Familiarity with basic principles of distributed computing and/or distributed databases
• Proficiency in statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, multivariate testing, and optimization algorithms
• Solid knowledge of statistical techniques
• The ability to come up with solutions to loosely defined business problems by leveraging pattern detection over potentially large datasets.
• 3+ years of intensive quantitative and qualitative research and analytics experience
• Overall passion and curiosity for technology, ability to research new technologies
• Penchant for identifying and clarifying ambiguous requirements
• Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented
• A “can do” attitude with a strong work ethic and a history of producing quality results.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
