Job Description

Principal Responsibilities:

  • This is a Lead role within the Engineering Department working with Software Development Teams
  • Interface with Software Development in provisioning QA, Stage, UAT, DR, Prod Enviroments
  • Lead architectural and design descisions of physical and virtual networks, IaaS, network appliances
  • Hands on implementation of virtual and physical LAN, WAN, VPN networks, routing
  • Configure and troubleshoot network devices F5 Big-IP Load Balancers, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto FWs
  • Design and implement Enterprise level Failover Clusters, Storage Devices, SANs, dSANs
  • Focus on Azure and RS Cloud Infrastructure. SAAS, IAAS, PAAS
  • Maintain HyperVisor Clusters and VMWare Clusters in Rackspace and Azure IaaS, VMs
  • Maintain physical server racks, LB, FW, SANs, fiber networks, raid arrays, network storage
  • Monitor network traffic, latency, bandwidth and usage to provide optimal performance
  • Design and implementation of Domain Controllers, Active Directory, User Management
  • Maintain multiple environments within Rackspace and Azure related to Software Development
  • Maintain middleware infrastructure: SQL Server, RabbitMQ, Elastic Search, Docker, Kube, etc
  • Maintain development tools: Jira, Azure DevOps, Artifactory, Build Agents, Build Servers
  • Assist in the software deployment process of the Software Development Teams
  • Participate in on-call escalation chain as wells as off-hour maintenances

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or other related engineering degrees preferred
  • Expert enterprise networking experience. CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE certifications preferred
  • Experience working with Software Development Teams and within a fast paced SDLC
  • Comfortable being the point person for business critical Production issues
  • Experience as a Lead, track record as the principal “Go To” person for Technical issues
  • Cloud environment expertise: Primarily Azure (AWS or Google Cloud experience also OK)
  • Comfortable juggling many roles: network expert, network admin, deployment specialist
  • Experience working with hands on hardware/software firewalls and load balancers, server racks
  • Experience creating environments from scratch: IaaS, Network topography, VM’s, VPN, LB, etc
  • Experience working with SDLC tools: Jira, TFS or Azure DevOps, Git, SVN
  • Troubleshoot, identify and resolve issues with systems, network and databases
  • Experience with monitoring tools like NewRelic, DataDog, Application Insights or Grafana
  • Experience building and supporting a SaaS software platform with an Software Dev Environment
  • Experience supporting Azure, MS Windows Server 2016/2019 servers, Linux
  • Active interest in new technology and emerging engineering practices
  • Experience working in a distributed team environment
