Dow has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Data Engineer on the Diamond Systems Analytics Enterprise Data Platform team. This is a Hybrid position within our Diamond Systems Analytics Organization.

The role will align to Dow's Design Your Day approach and allows employees flexibility by choosing when to work remotely and when to attend on-site activities based on project work and role needs. The role can be located at one our IT Hubs in Auburn, MI, Midland, MI or Houston, TX or at our locations in Collegeville, PA, Freeport, TX, or Marietta, GA.

About You

As a Data Engineer, you will work with a cross-functional team whose objective is to deliver solutions that drive business value for Dow. The Data Engineer will focus on ingestion / persistence / curation of data as defined by specific projects. They will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to:

  • Create data pipelines for projects in the Azure environment.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement analytic and reporting solutions. This includes the curation and ingestion of data from different source systems, driving end to end data flow for multiple solutions.
  • Identify opportunities for innovating with digital capabilities aiming to accelerate Dow’s digital transformation.

Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Own the development and deployment of solutions enabling data ingestion, storage, and consumption across Dow's enterprise data platforms (SAP and Azure based)
  • Develop and deploy data pipelines using Azure data services
  • Deployment of Azure services using Infrastructure as Code and Azure DevOps.
  • This position is for an Independent Contributor and is not expected to be a people leader

Data Engineering knowledge, skills and abilities include:

  • Knowledge of and Experience with Data modeling
  • Knowledge of and Experience with Pipelining (data and ML Ops)
  • Knowledge of Data Ingestion, ETL, and ELT and various data types like streaming data, structured, and unstructured data
  • Knowledge of and Experience with Dev Ops / ML Ops (e.g. GIT)
  • Knowledge of and Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. scripting, ADF)
  • Concepts of Data architecting - concepts
  • General understanding of digital industry trends
  • This is generally considered an early to mid-career position, typically someone with 5-10 years of industry experience

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree, 5 years of relevant experience or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant data platform experience (data pipelines, structured/non-structured database, data ingestion, data modeling, or other relevant).
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree discipline in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or other Engineering Disciplines.
  • Experience with Azure data services, Azure Data Factory and Python (other programming language).
  • Experience developing in the Azure environment.
  • Multi-application and cross-platform design experience.
