Job Description

As a Senior Research Specialist, you will support our strategic efforts and develop innovative solutions to challenging business problems by utilizing scientific methods and problem solving. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong background in Process Systems Engineering with expertise in Mathematical modeling and/or Data Science methods.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

• Apply principles of operations research and chemical engineering (such as process systems engineering, process modeling and optimization methods) to solve problems across different functions (such as R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain)
• Conduct research on defined projects by applying scientific principles and theory, and develop new tools utilizing different methods (such as mathematical modeling & optimization, simulation, machine learning and data science), and support implementation of those tools in use
• Keep current with technological developments through patent and technical literature reviews
• Partner and interface with stakeholders to understand, support and execute project plans and learn tools, techniques, and methods as necessary
• Document project work in company research reports. Generate and document company Intellectual Property through electronic notebooks, Invention disclosure and patents.
• Develop an external presence through journal/conference publications, patent applications, and patents
• Understand and follow Dow policies regarding environment, health, and safety

Required qualifications:

• A minimum of a PhD in Chemical Engineering or other related Engineering discipline.
• New graduates, or those graduating by December 2022 and post-doctoral candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong background in one or more of following: Process Systems Engineering, Mathematical Optimization methods, Machine Learning, Statistics methods
• Strong-coding skills in one or more of the following languages: Python, R, Matlab, SQL
• Experience with one or more of the mathematical modeling or machine learning frameworks: AIMMS, GAMS,Pyomo, PyTorch, Sci-Kit Learn, TensorFlow
