Job Description

AlleyCorp North is a specialist consultancy located at the intersection of AI and healthcare. We solve complex human problems by applying cutting-edge technology and domain understanding.

About the position

In this role, you will be a technical leader for our healthcare practice, with an internal role in developing our teams' healthcare skills. You will spend the majority of your time working with clients, either as part of a team or independently. You will also work closely with our senior and permanent consultants and management to integrate healthcare-specific knowledge into our software development, data science, and product design practices.

Your work will consist of:

  • Act as an architect and technical lead for healthcare client projects in some capacity – supervisory or hands-on.
  • Technical Project Management - planning and coordinating deliverables, scope, timelines and budgets for a project team; working closely with clients and internal interdisciplinary teams to ensure successful and high-quality delivery.
  • Occasionally carry out consulting work for clients independently (e.g., on split CTO assignments for healthcare startups).
  • Act as an ambassador for health standards and best practices within the company
  • Contribute to our open source and other internal tools for healthcare development and advance their roadmaps.
  • Participate in and/or lead internal working groups and professional development initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with other technical and operational leaders on our internal data privacy and compliance standards as they relate to healthcare projects.
  • Work with our sales and business development team to grow the business by leading technical discussions in sales cycles, contributing to marketing materials, and attending events.

About you:

We're looking for a seasoned technical leader who excels as an individual contributor and has strong business acumen. We want you to apply for this role if you thrive at the intersection of real-world problems in healthcare and technology. You should be as happy talking to customers and understanding the pain points in their business and software systems as you are writing code.

While we are seeking a candidate with a background in software development and architecture, we expect you to work in an interdisciplinary context, integrating product design and data science into your work. Candidates with a data science background and some experience in software development and architecture will also be considered.

You must have:

  • Very strong experience in the healthcare field, in various sub-sectors (e.g. provider, pharmaceutical, payer).
  • Extensive experience with healthcare data standards such as FHIR and HL7. Exposure to EHRs, health fintech, and the myriad integration challenges they present.
  • An excellent understanding of healthcare regulatory environments in the United States, Canada and other jurisdictions.
  • A solid understanding of the role of technology in the business strategy of healthcare organizations.
  • A solid foundation in software systems architecture.
  • At least 6 years of overall experience as a technology professional, either as a software developer, data scientist, or in a combination of roles.
  • Must possess exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Must have strong French presentation skills, technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to work comfortably with US clients.

Bonus points if you:

  • Proficiency in TypeScript, Node, React, and Python in particular is ideal, as this is the stack used by most of our customers.
  • Experience in developing AI applications is a plus.

All our job postings describe a bit of a unicorn. If you're a narwhal type, apply anyway. You don't need to meet all the requirements, let alone the bonus criteria. While experience and skills are valuable, growth potential and attitude are just as important. We're generally flexible on levels or can advise you when a more relevant position opens up.
