Who you are

  • You're a thought leader in data science and analytics

  • You're a self-starter, able to work independently and design full tracks of work for yourself and others.

  • You're proactive in identifying opportunities and avoiding pitfalls, both in your work as well as in the processes you and your team use to operate.

  • You're comfortable leading others into unknown territory, working to pave a path forward to give clarity and reduce uncertainty for others who follow.

  • You're a generalist with a solid understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques, their advantages, disadvantages, and areas of application.

  • You've taken data science projects from start to end, including conceptualization, product integration and deployment.

  • You're an excellent communicator, bridging ideas between different stakeholders from product management, engineering, other data scientists and researchers.

  • You have a solid understanding of data; you can use SQL, know what to do about missing data, noisy data, and synthetic data.

  • You have some familiarity with natural language processing, recommender systems, and modern software development systems.

What you'll do

  • You will analyze telemetry data and user behavior to determine the best opportunities for product enhancements, including insight generation and failure avoidance.

  • You will explore and evaluate different solution strategies, training models, creating end-to-end working prototypes, collecting feedback, and iterating.

  • You will work with software engineers to integrate your ideas into production software, deploy to users and monitor performance.

  • You will partner with leadership to help determine strategic objectives, shape the engineering roadmap and growth goals.

  • You will build and own relationships with lead scientists and thought leaders working on similar projects across the company to identify and pursue strategic partnerships.

  • You will contribute to expanding the Tableau data science culture by sharing knowledge and investing in tools and processes for the betterment of others.
