Job Description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Data Scientist Intern to join our dynamic team at Yum Brands. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to the development and deployment of machine learning models and solutions that enhance various aspects of our business operations, from customer experience optimization to supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including machine learning engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and identify opportunities for leveraging machine learning techniques.
• Assist in designing, developing, and testing statistical and machine learning models and algorithms to address business challenges and improve operational efficiency.
• Support the design, implementation, and evaluation of statistical experiments that evaluate business impact of AI/ML driven solutions.
• Help evaluate, monitor, and improve forecasts using advanced models in time series and machine learning.
• Work with Machine Learning Engineering team to test, optimize, and deploy models in production environment, and ensure the smooth operation of applications and services.
• Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities to foster collaboration and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a PhD or Master's degree in Statistics, Operation Research, Econometrics, Mathematics, Machine Learning or a related field.
• Good understanding of the theory and methods in experiment design, linear models, Monte Carlo simulation, demonstrated by coursework or projects.
• Basic understanding of time series analysis, stochastic process, and machine learning methods.
• Familiarity with Python, R, and willingness to learn new technologies and tools as needed.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for learning and a desire to make a positive impact.
