Job Description

Responsibilities and Requirements:

• Demonstrated skill and experience closely reviewing contracts for issues, with the judgement to determine which points are critical and should be escalated
• Knowledge of privacy laws in the United States, with a focus on their requirements for contracting with third parties
• Training in contract law and experience with negotiating, including drafting, meeting, and synthesizing inputs from multiple stakeholders to reach business judgments in accordance with the law
• Sound critical thinking and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships across the organization while working on cross functional teams
• Ability to solve problems, communicate to different business partners, and deliver results
• Ability to work independently without a close supervision
• Patience, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage unexpected or changing deadlines

Experience and other Qualifications:

• 4+ years of commercial contract negotiation / legal experience in a large corporate setting
• Familiarity with the privacy laws of the United States, both state and federal and/or the European GDPR

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience with an in-house legal team
• IAPP or other qualification
• Experience with project management
• Experience with incident and data breach response including managing engagement with regulators
• Experience handling privacy regulatory compliance which may include personal privacy rights, response to regulatory inquiries, and knowledge of criminal or civil investigations
• Willingness to travel 10-15% of the year as necessary
• Familiarity with European data privacy regulations and other areas of the world
• An interest in emerging technology and data science
