Atomistic Semiconductor Process Modeling and Simulations

Come join TSMC where we are working on exciting new semiconductor technology. Participate in building the next generation of transistors to be employed in future ultrafast electronic gadgets as mobile phones, smart watches, iPads, computers, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Your expertise in atomistic semiconductor process modeling will be essential for technology advancement.

Projects in the TCAD (US) group are wide ranged from atomistic simulations of semiconductor processes (e.g. etch, deposition, diffusion, etc.) to material properties (electrical, mechanical, thermal, etc.) for various technology. Leveraging rapidly growing AI and high-performance computing techniques, more fundamental breakthroughs in these areas are expected to achieve.

Responsibilities:

  • Help develop simulation methodology for modeling materials and chemical reactions, including DFT, MD, KMC or Machine Learning based approaches.
  • Help develop company’s material database, to support multi-domain physical studies.
  • Exploring novel semiconductor process concepts and their applications on future technology nodes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Actively pursuing a PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics or Electrical Engineering major.
  • Basic knowledge with semiconductor processes (e.g. etch, CVD, ALD, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge with solid-state physics, atomic-scale understanding of chemical reactions.
  • Experience with machine learning, statistics and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with Python scripting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of thermodynamics, chemical kinetics, etc.
  • Good programming skills with Python or C/C++.
  • Proficiency in using following tools: LAMMPS, Plumed, VASP/QE, ChemKin.
  • Demonstrated abilities in independent troubleshooting, effective teamwork, and exceptional communication.
  • Ability to work efficiently within a multi-functional team with colleagues with different backgrounds.
