Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

• Gain solid understanding of GMS organization and the team’s internal operations
• Manage and own the purchasing process and supplier maintenance process on behalf of the GMS organization. Including, initiating, and tracking the status of all purchase requisitions for the organization, and working with Procurement to qualify a new supplier
• Gain full understanding of internal purchasing process from initiating a quote request to receipting a purchase order once services have been rendered or components have been received
• Learn types of purchases GMS organization requires, including capital acquisitions
• Work with the Global Managed Services Finance counterpart to gain confidence in PO account coding based on item type
• Manage gathering Procurement requirements weekly on behalf of all GMS managers
• Job shadow employees within the department to gain understanding of how this group fits into the larger Itron organization
• Ask questions and offer input on complex problems
• Helps department stay abreast of latest developments in the field and in any changes related to educational practices
• Own and lead small projects

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Completed at least two years of college-level courses and enrolled in a related degree (preference for Business, Finance, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field)
• Ability to collaborate with others through professional oral and written communication
• Familiarity with purchase types
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities
• Intermediate Excel competencies such as v-lookup, IF statements, pivot tables, data filters and conditional formatting
• Interest in business and project management
• Ability to plan, organize and communicate in meetings with peers, managers, and directors
• Available 40 hours per week Summer 2024, optional to start part-time ahead of summer

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Advanced Excel competencies
• Exposure to Oracle or iProcurement
• Past related work or internship experience
• Understanding of corporate finance and accounting
