Job Description

The day-to-day responsibilities of this position will evolve over time. Initially this person will interact with our customer’s engineers, marketing team, and government energy ratings organization to develop and ensure the accuracy of a tool that engineers and end customers can use to determine energy usage. The tool will help produce energy usage data based on the components the end-user selects and how those components affect each other and the entire air handling unit. This will involve testing line items of current data and eventually developing/testing a solution that will automate this process. Over the long term this engineer will work to understand how the data is gathered and look for patterns to help automation and the ability to bring on other engineers to help scale the tool in the future. This person may eventually be the lead of a small data-engineering/software development team.

Duties May Include:

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to develop technical requirements for addressing business problems
• Build the infrastructure for the optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources (including external data sources and services)
• Working closely with product development engineers and marketing to generate and list the system performance rating information.
• Work effectively in a dynamic, research-oriented group that has several concurrent projects
• Explore mechanisms to enhance data quality and reliability
• Ensures that information follows the regulatory and security policies in place
• Ensure strong commitment to milestones, quality, and deliverables
• Establish new systems and process and look for opportunities to improve the flow of data

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
• Sr/Lead Level experience in creating software programs to analyze large sets of data modeling results
• Programming experience in C/C++/SQL with automation experience in Python and/or Matlab
• Experience with database development and architecture design
• Knowledge of basic data visualization and statistical methods
• Ability to analyze data and generate statistical information to identify trends and patterns
• Experience in machine learning tool and statistical techniques to produce solutions
• Experience with large scale data analytics, replicated data storage, and operating systems on prem or in the cloud
• Experience in development and implementation of big data architectures
• Experience training and leading small engineering teams
• Experience creating solutions within a cross functional team
• Ability/Interest in learning new domains (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning in this case)
