Job Description

  • Development Supply Chain DSC within Manufacturing and Clinical Supply is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of our clinical products including planning procurement, scheduling, capacity management, warehousing, and worldwide distribution. Additionally DSC teams are accountable for product set up, business process management, and technology solutions to configure new products into the company's clinical supply chain. As an integral part of our Process Development organization, DSC provides an innovation ecosystem for supply chain professionals. DSC supports differentiating multi-modality manufacturing and enables the set up and ongoing support of innovative and biosimilar products in our clinical trials.
  • DSC is seeking a highly motivated Data Scientist with expertise in causal machine learning models and the development of predictive signatures from multi-omics and multi-modal biomarker data to enable clinical biomarker discovery and development. You would be focusing on the integration of complex data sources, performing data analytics, applying data science models, and developing various visualizations and dashboards on supply chain processes. This role will be actively collaborating with a wide range of business leaders and design and implement sophisticated analytical models. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
    • Leverage large datasets to conduct end-to end supply chain analytics that include data gathering and requirements specifications processing analytics and presentations
    • Understand and capture business/functional requirements recommend metrics
    • Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams. Work closely with subject matter experts to deliver value by developing novel practical scientific data-driven solutions to meet business needs
    • Synthesize input into prioritized feature list and build User Stories requirements for each feature
    • Build a wide range of data and analytics solutions from descriptive to prescriptive using advanced statistical and machine learning models
    • Prototype build and customize analytical applications to enable in-depth analysis
    • Define and create automated interactive dashboards and tools that are turning data into business insights
    • Document data relations data flows and business logics behind the supply chain digitalization projects
    • Partner with IS and Data Engineers to ensure that the models feeding the dashboards are robust functional and relevant to business needs
    • Implement in-house library of clinically relevant multi-omic immunological signatures of activation, exhaustion, proliferation, and inflammation and assess their relationship with mechanisms of action and resistance.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert and implementation lead for application of open-source R and python causal modeling libraries to clinical trial data and use-cases.
    • Work cross-functionally with stakeholders in Research and Development to comprehensively catalog large pathway collections and promising literature-based gene expression signatures across Amgen-relevant therapeutic areas.
    • Interface cross-functionally with early development, assay laboratories, in-vitro diagnostics, and biomarker representatives to drive omics-based biomarker development.
    • Use cutting edge machine learning and artificial intelligence methodologies to develop biomarkers of clinical response and resistance.

Must-Have Skills:

  • R programming
  • Python programming
    • Just doing these in school will not be enough, has to be professional experience.
  • Significant experience in bioinformatics, applied mathematics and/or statistics to analyze multi-modal, multi-dimensional and large-scale biological datasets including whole exome sequencing, RNA-seq, and high-throughput proteomics.
  • Strong technical background with training in and development experience for causal modeling and a proven track record of applying causal modeling frameworks in clinical trial settings.
  • Fluency in both Python and R programming languages and associated DevOps tools (version control, CI/CD).

Highly Desired Skills:

  • Has experience in global development, needs to be fluent in R or Python.
  • Dev operational tools.
  • Experience in exome sequencing, RNA-seq, and high-throughput proteomics, causal genomics analysis, gene expression.
  • Front-end dev: Javascript HTML CSS
  • Back-end dev: Node.js PHP Python
  • Web architecture and database management systems
  • Git and Github and familiarity with DevOps

Additional Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree OR Master degree and 2 years of experience OR Bachelor degree and 3 years of experience OR Associate degree and 6 years of experience OR High school diploma / GED and 10 years of experience
  • Experience in supply chain roles and solid understanding of supply chain management principles and interest in working on sophisticated problems OR
  • Experience in a data science data analyst business analytics business intelligence or comparable role
  • Proficiency in programming with Python/R/JavaScript
  • Full-stack web developing experience using frameworks such as RShiny/Dash/React/Angular
  • Expertise using SQL to write complex highly-optimized queries across large volumes of data
  • Tableau development/visualization experience including designing and developing reports and dashboards
  • Familiarity with ERP systems preferably SAP
  • Familiarity with DevOps and software best practices i.e. version control continuous integration test driven development
  • Ability to bridge functions particularly technical and non-technical worlds
  • Ability to communicate and provide meaningful business insights from data
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills with attention to details and organization
  • Shown success on delivering results on multiple projects in an agile and fast-paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving storytelling and interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical details in an easy to understand language for the business owners
  • Independent self-motivated organized able to multi-task in time-sensitive environments and skilled in communication facilitation and collaboration

Work Schedule:

Remote - Any time zone closer to CA time zone, the better.
