Absci is looking for multiple highly motivated AI Scientist Interns with experience in protein sequence and structure. This is a unique opportunity to change how drugs are developed and increase the speed of early drug discovery research. Interns will work with a team of AI Scientists at various levels and specialties and interact with Protein Engineers and Wet Lab Scientists.

Applications will be accepted until all positions are filled. Interns can choose to work in our New York, NY, Vancouver, WA offices or remotely. Internships will last 10-12 consecutive weeks. Start dates are flexible between May - July 2024.

Example projects you might be working on:

• De novo antibody design: Design, implement, and deploy structure based and sequence based methods to enable de novo antibody design
• Antibody property prediction: Design, implement, and deploy robust predictive models that relate antibody sequence to biological readouts
• Antibody multi-parametric optimization: Design, implement, and deploy existing and novel methods for optimizing antibodies that balance many different properties
• Representation learning: Investigate, implement, and benchmark new methods for protein representation learning

Required Skills:

• Programming: Proficiency in Python including machine learning and statistical analysis packages (e.g. pytorch, pandas, numpy, scipy, sklearn, pytorch, statsmodels, matplotlib) , experience with Git
• Statistics: Strong background in statistical modeling, particularly as it applies to protein sequence and structure
• Data Handling: Experience in handling large datasets, with a focus on protein sequence and structure datasets
• Communication and Experimentation: Ability to work in a small/large team and present data and findings to both wet lab and dry lab teams. Identify and address data quality issues, propose next steps, and design experiments

Qualifications:

• Working towards a BS, MS, or Ph.D. in computer science, biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred
• Experience working with large-scale protein design models such as AlphaFold2, ESMFold, RFDiffusion, etc
• Experience with large language models (LLMs) and/or and geometric/3D deep learning
• Proficiency in general-purpose programming languages. We primarily use Python and pytorch.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
• Demonstrated experience in NGS data analysis and familiarity with FACS is a plus

The salary range for this position is $8000 - $9200/month. Pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
