Bumble is looking for a Senior Data Engineer who combines a deep software engineering and Data Engineering and Data Modeling background to work closely with the Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Product Managers and Software Engineers to support in modernising and developing systems for the future of data platform. You will act as a strong contributor to the projects and applications being developed. This role will allow for a lot of autonomy and ambition to grow in your role, and be able to use your drive, creativity and initiative to move the team and organisation toward success. The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen, experience developing backend services, databases and development best practices along with a passion for tech.

Key Accountabilities

• Leading the architecture of the core data model for the enterprise data warehouse at Bumble.
• Work with business and analytics teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models.
• Be responsible for the development of Data/ETL Pipelines for various metrics for BI Products, Data Science, and Product Analytics for Bumble
• Oversee and govern the expansion of existing data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices.
• Updating internal BI tools to a modern tech stack Design, develop and maintain large-scale data pipelines and internal tools that help Bumble provide a safe and engaging experience for our users and improve the way Bumble operates
• You will work in one of the most complex, fast-paced, varied and voluminous data environments in the tech world (10’s billions of data points every day, across multiple source systems, multiple data science and analytics methodologies!)
• You’ll collaborate closely with several data teams including Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers and Scientists, Analysts, People Recommendations (as well as Engineering and Product etc) and all levels of seniority, so will have exposure to all of the business.

About You

• Completed degree in computer science or comparable
• Expect understanding of data architecture and data modeling
• Advanced knowledge of SQL (window functions, common table expressions, complex grouping etc.)
• Good knowledge of databases (Snowflake) and experience with DBT as a plus
• Experience with workflow management systems (e.g. Apache Airflow, Argo, ...)
• Good Python programming skills
• An independent and autonomous way of working
• Team-oriented work and good communication skills are an asset
• Fluent in English language skills
