The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Credit Risk Analyst Manager - I to use quantitative methods to assess risks and opportunities within the Credit Card – Credit Risk space. Executes quantitative credit/behavioral/financial analytics or predictive modeling to generate insights and offer recommendations. Builds compelling presentations that tell a story and presents to partners. Provides effective challenge on strategy proposals impacting credit, demonstrating localized expertise and technical acumen. Monitors business portfolios, generating observations with explanations that can be shared in committees and risk reviews.

We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Applies analytical skills to assess risks and opportunities for a Bank consumer portfolio and translates results into recommendations.
  • Effectively develops analytical concepts in support of key stakeholders to deliver on bank risk strategies.
  • Conducts quantitative analysis utilizing extensive internal and external data sources.
  • Develops qualitative analysis to support departmental decision making.
  • Researches credit, product, and/or risk proposals and utilizes critical thinking skills to provide analysis ensuring strong portfolio performance outcomes.
  • Builds and/or maintains effective risk management frameworks which can identify, measure, or mitigate risk.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive risk reporting in support of management and committee oversight of existing and emerging risks.
  • May develop and/or execute financial risk sensitivity analysis.
  • May execute credit and/or financial modeling infrastructure.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • 2 years’ experience in an analytical field or focused on risk management execution, analytics or risk assessments; OR an advanced degree in a quantitative, scientific, engineering, business or technical field; OR an equivalent level of demonstrated competencies in leading risk management execution, analytics and risk assessments. 
  • Experience communicating analytical insights to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills with various data to problem solve effectively.
  • Basic understanding of data, code, or reporting tools.

Preferred Experience:

  • Risk management experience in a complex institution and or highly matrixed environment related to financial services
  • Strong analytical, technical, and statistical skills. Ability to synthesize / analyze diverse information, develops recommendations, and makes decisions.
  • Data science and analytics experience using SQL, SAS, and visualization tools (Tableau) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to present complex and sensitive issues to management

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $77,577 - $150,330 *(this does not include geographic differential it may be applied based on your work location)

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
