Responsibilities

  • Conduct ARVR system development
  • Support ARVR, computer graphics, and video technology research initiatives and implement leading-edge technologies with best practices
  • Collaborate with the team to fulfill our vision by developing novel prototype platforms and implementing innovative ideas into the platform; work to reduce or remove bottlenecks and inefficiencies within the platform
  • Design and implement demonstration systems; create new features, from a technical specification or a reference implementation; conduct demo system maintenance and bug fixing
  • Prototype, implement and evaluate application algorithms; optimize application or algorithm performance through analysis, code refactoring, and system tuning
  • Communicate complex ideas and testing results effectively, both orally and in writing, and provide recommendations and support to internal engineering teams through accurate and effective written documentation.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Science, EE, or related fields with some experience in ARVR applications and/or ARVR system development, computer graphics, and/or video technology, and/or AI applications.
  • Involve projects of software development in related fields with hands-on experiences
  • Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: Python and C/C++.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in graphic rendering, 3D modeling, OpenGL, Unity, OpenCV, and/or machine learning algorithms is a strong plus
  • Passionate about some technical issues. Strong sense of technology ownership.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skill

Futurewei Technologies, the US R&D affiliate of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., has a Patent Licensing position to be staffed out of the US affiliate’s office locations. The successful candidate will ideally have 15+ years of experience with particular emphasis on patent portfolio development and management and outbound patent licensing.

As a member of Futurewei’s Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Department, the person taking this position will be responsible for a variety of matters pertaining to outbound patent licensing programs and account management activities in US and global markets. The position will report to the (US) Chief Intellectual Property Counsel and principally involve negotiating and executing complex patent-license agreements and amendments. The position will also advise Huawei’s global licensee compliance and enforcement of existing license agreements. This position would serve as the primary account management interface between Huawei and its US licensees and will involve coordinating and working together with IPR personnel as well as Huawei personnel globally. 

Responsibilities for the Chief Patent Licensing Executive position include:

  • Interaction with Huawei IPR personnel in connection with outbound licensing and patent-pool initiatives, including negotiation with identified licensing candidates and agents.
  • Development and execution of multi-year licensing strategy and corresponding revenue generation.
  • Support of Chief IP Counsel in general intellectual property activities.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures to optimize Huawei’s patent portfolio and associated patent practice of Huawei and Futurewei.

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidate will have at least 15 years of experience in outbound patent licensing initiatives
  • Outbound licensing experience, including development of licensing strategy, negotiation with adverse parties, and drafting of license agreements
  • Experience with patent pool formation and participation
  • Experience with patent license compliance
  • Experience with FRAND licensing of standard essential patents
  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Prior experience working within the telecommunications industry desirable
  • Interest, and ability to work, in multi-cultural environment
  • Domestic and international travel

About The Job

We are looking for a talented researcher in deep learning to join our ASID team in Santa Clara. We are passionate about applied deep learning research to solve computer vision problems in image restoration, model acceleration, 3D and Nerf, ViT, CLIP, VAE and Diffusion models, as well as feature embedding, contrastive learning and multi-modal learning etc.

Responsibility:

  • Develop image restoration algorithms in model acceleration, 3D and Nerf, ViT, CLIP, VAE, and Diffusion models, as well as feature embedding, contrastive learning, and multi-modal learning etc.
  • Develop demo prototypes for computer vision applications.
  • Summarize the developed algorithms into academic papers and patent applications.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, or close related field with relevant research experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of theory and practice of machine learning and deep learning.
  • Knowledge of applications areas such as language modal and computer vision.
  • Strong experience with deep learning framework such as Tensorflow or PyTorch.
  • Solid programming skills with Python.
  • Proven track record of academic publication in top conferences and journals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a dynamic, global team.

Location: Santa Clara, CA

Hourly interns pay range: $18 to $59, depending on degree-seeking academic program (PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s, etc.), years of relevant experience, year in school, geographic location, credentials, qualifications, and other job-related factors.

Housing allowance and relocation benefit might be provided to intern candidates who meet the qualifications. Additional details on the compensation package will be provided to candidates during the interview process.
