Job Description

Who We Are

Gretel is solving the data bottleneck problem for developers, data scientists, and AI/ML researchers by providing them with safe, fast and easy access to data without compromising on accuracy or privacy. Designed by developers for developers, Gretel’s APIs make it simple to generate anonymized and safe synthetic data so you can preserve privacy and innovate faster. We’re disrupting how organizations innovate with data and are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to join our mission!

The impact you’ll have

You will lead a full-stack team in the delivery of Gretel’s core platform. You'll be responsible for taking very complex ML/AI tasks in creating synthetic data and turning them into delightful and efficient user workflows that can be utilized by developers, analysts, and users of all types. Every Gretel user will feel like an expert in synthetic data, and you'll be helping lower the barrier-to-entry into the world of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

What you will do

  • Own the backlog and development processes for a full-stack team working on Gretel’s Console (UI), cloud APIs, complex async background jobs, backend databases, billing, product analytics, and other subsystems
  • Partner with product management to balance short and long-term needs for both product and technical roadmaps
  • Promote a mindset of fast iterations, learning, and collaboration
  • Mentor engineers and implement best practices around testing, observability, and architecture design
  • Work closely with engineering leadership and product teams to take new products and major features from prototype to product
  • Create high quality internal documentation to support customer success, marketing, and sales functions

Requirements

  • Has built engineering teams and managed engineers for at least 2+ years
  • Has 7+ years of software engineering experience developing SaaS applications to include API and UI development, asynchronous processing, CI/CD, and application / performance monitoring
  • Specific experience in serverless and microservice architectures using cloud native technologies (AWS, GCP, K8s, etc).
  • Must have strong communication skills both verbally and written
  • Must be able to over-communicate and manage multiple communications avenues at once

We think the best ideas come from the blending of diverse perspectives. Our teams are composed of the best minds in their fields - and we believe that adding diversity will make our solutions stronger. We hire people who are superb at what they do, drawn to the cool edges where fields touch, and like to laugh. We are deeply collaborative, apolitical, and mission-oriented.
