ShyftLabs is searching for a versatile and resourceful Data Operations Engineer with 5+ years of experience. As a Sr. Data Operations engineer, you will collaborate and partner with data operations, data engineering teams, and business partners to ensure users' requests are closed within defined SLAs, root cause analysis, get your hands to understand all technical details, incorporate the best practices in place for the team to learn, continuously improve to help promote success for ShyftLabs.

This role focuses on managing, and supporting data operations and delivery. Broadly, data operations teams will support every functional area of data engineering, data science teams & multiple Business partners.

Job Responsibilities:

Act as the first point of contact for all user requests and issues received by the Operations Team.

Continuously monitor batch loads and make sure data availability for business is on time within the defined SLA.

Provide VIP/white-glove support for key business stakeholders.

Maintain the team’s Jira board: log all issues, document requests with sufficient detail to action/implement, route tickets to appropriate team members, and track all requests to completion

Analyse, implement & manage Snowflake user accounts and security in all applications managed by IT Operations Team

Work with Operations, Finance, and business to confirm that requested tickets/stories are implemented with 100% accuracy

Manage incidents, escalate & track critical issues until resolved

Work with users to reproduce & document reported issues, communicate findings with development teams to correct, confirm fixes, and obtain sign-off from users

Provide user support and training for applications in IT Operations Team’s portfolio

Create & maintain documentation for all supported applications, including runbooks, data dictionaries, quick reference guides, release notes, and training materials

Support onboarding additional teams & workflows into applications managed by IT Operations Team

Interact with stakeholders from various business units, including helpdesk, Finance, Procurement, and other IT teams

Define training needs for new and existing functionality, create training documentation, and conduct in-person & virtual training sessions for teams worldwide

Investigate new & unused features available in tools used by IT Operations Team Support, and new tools the team can use, to deliver value to business customers faster & more efficiently

Help IT Operations Team and development teams with proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and programming tasks

Triage code-related production support issues during business hours

Build & automate scripts to load/update data in real-time to support business requirements

Have the courage to ask difficult questions and provide/receive constructive feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement

Work with businesses to implement change management required to support initiatives & deployments

Available to work with users and IT teams across different time zones

Basic Qualifications:

You have a minimum of 5 years of experience and hands-on experience in data integration, engineering, and technological analytics.

Excellent skills in; SQL, Python, AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, Cloudwatch, SQS), and distributed source control such as GIT in an Agile-Scrum environment.

Experience with ETL pipelines and a strong understanding of dimensional modeling and data warehousing methodologies.

Can identify ways to improve data quality and reliability.

Can use data to discover different tasks for automation.

Is aligned with the latest data trends and ways to simplify data insights.

Is passionate about data and the insights that large amounts of data sets can provide

Experience with Python, SSIS, Uc4, Oracle Data Integrator

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Jira, and ServiceNow experience helpful

Knowledge of BI/reporting tools with Business Objects experience helpful

Knowledge of the retail industry domain is very helpful
