What you’ll do:
- Provide leadership, direction and definition for the Safety Engineering function including planning, scheduling, coordination, and implementation
- Develop and maintain best in class state of the safety framework
- Define targets for product risk, reliability, availability, robustness, and security
- Drive execution toward the target via validation and release strategies
- Develop metrics to demonstrate release readiness and drive adoption via development cycle modifications
- Assess technical quality of system, safety, and security artifacts
- Lead team of technical experts and engineering managers
- Effectively manage individual goals and objectives, performance, and employee development
- Accomplish department objectives by supervising staff
- Developing and monitoring work processes and organizing and monitoring work processes with the highest degree of quality and safety
- Collaborate with executive leadership in engineering, PMO (Program Management Office), product management, System Engineering, Testing, Rigor and operations on workflows and artifacts
What you’ll need to Succeed:
- Master's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 12+ years relevant experience
- 7+ years overall of proven experience in applying standards like ISO (International Standards Organizations) 26262, 21448 and 21434
- Minimum 5+ years performing personnel management activities including but not limited to performance planning and evaluations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution, recruiting and onboarding, and ensuring compliance to software policies and procedures
- 3+ years’ experience leading engineers in the delivery of software centric solutions that include complex algorithm development and data models, with emphasis on best practices in coding standards, testing, and systems integration
- Proven experience at advancing careers and technical development of experts and leaders/managers
- Proven experience in applying methods like STPA (Systems Theoretic Process Analysis), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), FTA, DRBFM, 3x5 Why
- Excellent experience applying Agile principles (Scrum/Kanban)
- Experience in software development, operating systems, development languages, and deployment of software products, or systems engineering including networking, database management, virtual environments, system design, integration, and maintenance
- Exhibit excellent servant leadership characteristics and willingness to support the career growth of others
- Exhibit excellent facilitation, technical team coaching, and critical systems thinking
- Proficient knowledge of working with product and/or quality managers, with understanding of business-level priorities
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to build trust and strong working relationships, effectively create and proofread documents and reports, and communicate to a diverse workforce
- Keen attention to detail to identify problems and processes that do not comply with protocol
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate resources, prioritize effectively, and maintain competing demands simultaneously with frequent interruptions and in a fast-paced environment
Bonus Points:
- Experience with AV (Autonomous Vehicle) and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) applications
- Experience with production and series automotive safety critical projects
- Experience with ML/AI based products
- Experience with data driven validation/formal methods
