Job Description

The role of Operations Analysis & Performance (OAP) is to support this mission by providing strategic insights by first understanding business processes and then leveraging data and analytics to drive continuous improvement efforts. The Analytics Leader will work closely with front-line leaders to develop creative solutions to current business challenges. We are looking for data curious candidates that seek to understand process and can connect with our business partners to leverage data and drive improvement and is able to take a project from end-to-end: gathering business requirements, working with all contributors to the project, and delivering results to the stakeholder without much oversight from a supervisor. Data has transformed the way Delta operates and the Operational Analytics team is the core of the data strategy. The team leverages the data environment to deliver forward-looking insight to business leaders through a variety of analytical techniques. You’ll be empowered to drive innovative analyses using both structured and unstructured data, flagging opportunity areas every step of the way. Responsibilities: Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures Have a team first attitude with the success of our team and business partners as the top priority Understand the business operation and how the data is able to represent the performance or processes Locate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis, models, and project development Use descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytical techniques to highlight business challenges, potential solutions, and relevant tradeoffs Leverage emerging technologies and identify efficient and meaningful ways to communicate data and analysis in order to satisfy divisional needs Develop and improve automated reports, analyses, or dashboards to support senior divisional leaders and the front-line employees Be able to cater tools to each audience appropriately Build trust with the business teams in order to be a useful thought partner Support process improvement and project management engagements for both individual business units and cross-divisional initiatives Present findings and recommendations to OAP and divisional leaders Train and mentor other team members in various skillsets and subjects Be intellectually curious, ask questions and speak up when they have an idea Be independent workers who look for problems to solve, come up with innovative ideas, and drive implementation of solutions Benefits and Perks to Help You Keep Climbing A career at Delta not only gives you a chance to see the world, but we also provide excellent benefits to help you keep climbing along the way! Competitive salary, industry leading profit sharing and 401(k) with generous direct contribution and company match Comprehensive health benefits including medical, dental, vision, short/long term disability and life benefits A detailed wellness plan that recognizes the importance physical, emotional, financial, and social wellbeing Domestic and International flight privileges What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) • Candidates for this position should have at a minimum a high school diploma/GED • 5+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field preferred • Successful candidates will have familiarity and/or experience with some or all of the following: SQL, SAS, R, Tableau or other database interface tools and languages • Strong experience with Tableau and/or other data visualization tools • Ability to write complex queries, joining data from multiple sources and working with large, messy datasets, to arrive at operational insights • Strong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelines • Ability to thoughtfully engage and develop team members • Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressure • Convey a professional image with ability to lead, manage, and communicate multiple levels within the organization • Strong self-starter with a resilient, solution minded approach to complex problems • Enjoy working in a high-profile environment with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and aggressive deadlines • Must be comfortable working in group and individual settings Demonstrates that privacy is a priority when handling personal data.
