Job Description

The ELearning Developer will be an integral part of the Pediatric Pandemic Network (PPN) mission to prepare the nation and its children’s hospitals to be ready to care for children in everyday settings, disasters and global health threats. The Elearning Developer will join a team of instructional designers, educational researchers and medical education experts located across the country. This position will leverage their skills in elearning development, instructional design, project management, educational technology and problem solving to support PPN. The ELearning Developer will be expected to develop a portfolio of learning products including infographics, elearning modules, videos, simulations, mobile learning, blogs and technical documentation. Other responsibilities will include collaboration with colleagues, leading the team in standards for high quality content, development of content, administrate CMS and LMS configurations for building website platforms and orchestrating prototype and pilot testing with groups, compiling feedback into actionable tasks as well as managing relationships with internal and external clients, vendors, consultants and peer institutions. This position will perform other duties, as assigned.

Essential Duties

  1. Acts as a project leader for Instructional Technology projects. 2. Provides consultation and makes recommendations for allocation of resources, product selection, and priorities. 3. Delivers technical expertise and provides recommendation in researching, evaluating and implementing new instructional technologies. 4. Provides high-level service for existing instructional technologies and projects, as well as high-end support for all instructional technology systems and other multimedia activities. 5. Manages operating systems, applications, web services, and content on the department’s servers. 6. Maintains in depth knowledge of existing and emerging instructional technologies. 7. Develops and reports on metrics that measure usage, reliability and client satisfaction for all technology services provided. 8. Manages relationships with internal and external clients, outside vendors, consultants and peer institutions. 9. Maintains highest possible degree of service and responsiveness in complex, multi-vendor, multiplatform environment. 10. Consults with faculty to assess instructional technology needs. Develops and implements solutions to meet those needs. 11. Provides training on the usage of instructional technologies, and other software and hardware. 12. Manages assigned project tasks to ensure timely and high quality outcomes. Provides regular status reports on assigned projects. 13. Supervises temporary and student workers. 14. May perform others duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree and at least three years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to communicate concepts and processes using simple language and effective and aesthetically pleasing visual design that follows branding guidelines. Ability to develop learning products that follow principles of adult learning and multimedia learning.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Self-motivated and able to work and manage in a cross-functional, multi-disciplinary interdependent team. Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Quickly adaptable to change with enthusiasm and resourcefulness when tackling unfamiliar tasks, while completing projects on time.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Knowledge of how to strategize and develop learning products that support all Kirkpatrick Levels of Education.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Proficiency and experience in educational software, such as: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Creative Suite, H5P, Camtasia, Vyond and similar tools. Proficient in CSS, HTML5 and Javascript to augment elearning and web publishing.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Demonstrated ability developing educational content on multiple platforms (example xAPI, LRS data).

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Experience with rapid prototyping, LLAMA or SAM processes. Experience developing content using open access resources and creative commons. Experience using AI to augment instructional design and development workflows. Knowledge of no code tools for project management. Experience developing content with xAPI compatible platforms and creating reports.
