Job Description

Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.

The Opportunity:

  • Be a member and critical contributor to a new genetic pharmacology group within Translational Research (part of the larger Biology group), focused on molecular biology/cancer genetics and computational biology analyses of genetically engineered mouse model (GEMM)-based studies. The position will report to a Director-level head of this group.
  • Build data management systems and infrastructure needed in a cross-functional collaboration with Information Sciences team to manage data storage, organization, and sharing capabilities across teams.
  • Establish a cross-functional group and work closely with the Bioinformatics team to build analysis pipelines and algorithms for quality control, analysis, and meta-analysis of various data types (tabular data, genomic sequencing data, transcriptomic sequencing data, and others as developed).
  • Prototype novel data analysis and visualization approaches to support rapid experimental iteration.
  • Analyze, visualize, interpret, and communicate experimental data from GEMM experiments and contribute to experimental design that furthers the models.
  • Explore drug-genotype biomarkers using statistical methods.
  • Generate new hypotheses and insights from data analysis, working closely with the Genetic Pharmacology, Bio-informatics teams as well as the larger Biology group.
  • Identify critical dimensions of assay development and performance to derive informative metrics and visualizations that allow these to be monitored.
  • Monitor data quality, identify data quality gaps, and drive improvements to data resolution - including improvements to wet lab processes.
  • Present results at internal meetings and scientific conferences.
  • Document code, analyses, and results to allow for reproducible results and clear coordination across teams.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant scientific literature and the broader field and identify and evaluate new methods or improvements.
  • The post-holder may be required to manage or supervise other scientific or technical personnel.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education:

  • A Ph.D. in molecular and/or computational biology or a related field with 8+ years of postdoctoral or relevant industry experience in computational biology methods.
  • Expert-level knowledge of contemporary statistical methods and computational analysis of next-generation sequencing data.
  • Scientific programming in Python, Pandas, R, or similar languages.
  • An understanding of the cancer biology and genetics of solid tumors.
  • Strong track record of research productivity as evidenced by high-quality, impactful publications.
  • A rigorous, quantitative, and detail-oriented analyst with proven excellence in experimental design, data analysis methods, data management, and presentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with teams to complete projects and demonstrated experience in leading teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges, and execute goals as a member of an interdisciplinary team is extremely important.
  • Thrives in a collaborative team setting and is driven by a desire to be innovative in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
