Who you are:

Geotab specializes in telematics, which involves the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data from vehicles and equipment. Telematics plays a crucial role in optimizing performance, improving safety, and enhancing efficiency across various industries.

We are looking for an intern and research student to work in Solutions Engineering that is interested in the data analytics perspective of telematics. 

What you'll do:

As an intern, you will work closely with a number of stakeholders at Geotab including Sales, Data & Analysis, Sales Operations, and the other Solutions Engineering teams. You will gain functional knowledge of the Geotab Product Suite, as well subject matter expertise on our big data capabilities and limitations, and be able to communicate the products as well as their insights to customers and resellers. You also have a passion for problem solving and troubleshooting, and seek to understand problems both with the datasets themselves and in the customer’s operations. We encourage research-driven thinking and offer the opportunity to explore and define your own research topic during the internship, which could potentially form the basis of your final thesis.

How you'll make an impact:

• Develop and grow technical and business knowledge of the Geotab solutions & ecosystem.
• Assist in data analytics tasks, including working with SQL queries and creating data visualizations based on customer requests.
• Work closely with sales teams to develop unique and effective business solutions based on technical capabilities and customer requirements.
• Engage in meetings or communication with customers to identify their technology needs and challenges.
• Create algorithms and predictive models to extract information required to solve complex business problems.
• Maintain airflow pipelines for continual data analysis combining SQL queries and python scripts.
• Assist during client calls to explain the nuances of data analysis.
• Provide feedback to product managers on the Data & Analytics and Product teams to improve Geotab’s products.
• Maintain technical knowledge of the Geotab ecosystem and act as the SME to enable end-users to better understand Geotab solutions

What you'll bring to this role:

• Business fluent in English, knowledge of German language a plus.
• Master’s student (in Engineering or similar discipline).
• 1-3 years experience using SQL (Google Big Query preferred).
• 1-3 years experience with data science tools (Python, pandas, numpy preferred).
• Data visualization skills, particularly in dashboarding platforms and Power BI.
• Willing to collaborate in an international environment.
• Strong analytical skills
• Familiarity with telematics and SaaS.
• Strong interpersonal relationship building skills.
