Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What Is the Opportunity?
Apply behavioral science frameworks and academic insights to practical business challenges in the Property and Casualty Insurance industry. Contribute to business outcomes using the scientific method, as well as Behavioral Science theories and frameworks. Serve as a problem solver, designer and data analyst related to behavioral considerations. One role with varied backgrounds across the range of research and applied Behavioral Science is available within the Claim Behavioral Science function. Serve as a researcher, interviewer, design thinking facilitator, and data analyst for the application of behavioral science to Travelers Claim strategies and projects. Projects will be varied and may include initiatives like digital adoption, improving response times, change management, and decisions about how we develop product features to increase positive product outcomes. In close collaboration with key stakeholders across Claim, conduct pilots, apply behavioral science frameworks, and implement interventions to influence choices customers or claimants make before or throughout the lifecycle of a claim. Conduct the research to recommend and to test behavioral interventions to claim practices, product design, business strategies and experiences with the aim of increasing positive outcomes for individuals, businesses and the company. Apply insights internally to influence how employees within the organization react to and manage transformational change. Bring experience applying Behavioral Science methods to product and service initiatives that can help bring behavioral science to scale. This job does not manage others.
This role reports to the VP of Behavioral Science who receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives for the new Behavioral Science function. The VP of Behavioral Science will direct initiatives and assign projects to the Behavioral Scientist roles based on skills and expertise required. Independent project management skills and research expertise are required to establish and to carry out designed experiments and their analysis. Claim Behavioral Science operates together as an internal, interdisciplinary consultancy, with collective input and lab meetings on each engagement to maximize experimental rigor and creativity in designing interventions with business partners.
