Job Description

Intrinsic is Alphabet’s bet aiming to reimagine the potential of industrial robotics. Our team believes that advances in AI, perception and simulation will redefine what’s possible for industrial robotics in the near future – with software and data at the core.

Our mission is to make industrial robotics intelligent, accessible, and usable for millions more businesses, entrepreneurs, and developers. We are a dynamic team of engineers, roboticists, designers, and technologists who are passionate about unlocking the creative and economic potential of industrial robotics.

Role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a small committed team of computer vision researchers and engineers. The team’s goal will be to build a next generation vision platform implementing and validating Computer Vision algorithms on real-world data.

The most successful candidates understand the entire image processing stack: spanning the physics of light and photons, design of lenses, pixel readout, calibration techniques, geometric vision, image processing, computer vision, and finally an ability to use this knowledge to render scenes (i.e. computer graphics).

How your work moves the mission forward

  • Design and implement computational camera prototypes on optical breadboards.
  • Design and implement 3D cameras.
  • Use computer graphics to verify correctness of camera designs and visualize outputs from cameras
  • Keep innovating - continuously improve our technology in terms of accuracy, applicability, and runtime.

Skills you will need to be successful

  • MS/PhD in Computer Vision, Signal Processing, Optical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with a sophisticated computational imaging setup: examples include high-resolution geometry capture (e.g. Micron-scale 3D imaging), high-resolution material capture (e.g. Light Stage), or high-resolution lighting capture (e.g. Environment Map Generation).
  • Experience with rendering and visualization of captured data.
  • Experience with digital camera readout and calibration, including real-time stream acquisition, photometry, brightness measurement, and radiometry.
  • Software skills in Python, computer vision and imaging libraries, Pytorch, and at least one rendering toolset.

Skills that will differentiate your candidacy

  • Hands-on design of computational cameras and imaging system hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with camera calibration.
  • Willingness to adapt rapidly to quick turnarounds for prototypes.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $184,800 - 292,600 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
