Job Description

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will be a senior member of the Data Science team, reporting to the data science leader in Alight Retiree Health Solutions. You will develop and deploy advanced analytical/machine learning/AI solutions under the guidance of managing team members to directly address business needs. Using Python, R, and/or other languages, you will design and implement predictive/machine learning models in a cloud-based environment for data sets that may be complex, large-scale, and/or longitudinal. You will interact directly with business owners and design solutions and models while mentoring more junior members.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Partner with business owners and clients to identify ML objectives and criteria to solve business objectives to increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve consumer value
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced ML models
• Collaborate with data engineering team on data pipelines
• Acquire and prepare data ingestion, splitting, exploration, feature selection, and feature engineering to solve business objectives
• Develop advanced ML models and perform necessary model training, validating, and testing to perform model evaluation with business recommendations
• Partner with ML Ops to productionize ML models and set monitoring and maintenance plan
• Translate and simplify results for presentation to business stakeholders, partners, and clients
• Work in collaboration with data consultants, data scientists, functional leaders, and external parties
• Design visualization tools and reporting automation to communicate end-results to targeted users.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise – Required Experience:

• Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or other related fields (MS is preferred).
• 4+ years of experience with key modeling and analytic techniques (e.g., decision trees, multivariable logistic regression, kNN, kMeans, NLP, Neural Networks), as well as the ability to implement and deploy using one of the common open-source systems (R, Python, Scala, etc.).
• Experience in data cleaning, exploratory analysis, feature engineering
• Experience with deploying advanced models (e.g., Deep Learning, NLP, multivariable time series regression, Markov chains, Bayesian models)
• Proficient in R, Python, SQL
• Experience with data visualization tool such as ggplot, Tableau is a plus
• Good communication skills, both oral and in writing
• Good organization and time management skills; ability to work independently

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate’s experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $82,000.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $202,900.00/year (for full time employees). In addition to a base salary, this position may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentive plans.
