Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of experience working with data for machine learning model training, including generation, annotation, labeling, and evaluation.
  • 1+ years of experience managing a team working on linguistic and/or machine learning data.
  • 1+ years of experience in hiring for linguistic and/or machine learning data work, particularly with a contingent workforce.
  • Experience with business productivity tools like GSuite, Notion, and Slack
  • Native speaker of North American English (born/raised in the USA or Canada and lived there for the majority of the past 5 years)
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to understand and apply detailed editing and data annotation guidelines
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks while paying constant attention to detail and deliver accurate and precise work
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds to lead tasks and projects
  • Ability to work independently, including managing your schedule, attending all required meetings, and completing projects within a deadline
  • Programming experience with Python, including familiarity with data structures and text processing in a commercial environment (nice to have)
  • Ability to write and use regular expressions to manipulate data (nice to have)
  • Master’s degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Science or related field (nice to have)

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple linguistic data tasks and apply linguistics and project management skills.
  • Ensure task deliveries while managing communication among stakeholders.
  • Plan tasks and manage task leads independently according to quality, scope, and schedule; assure effective project execution and delivery.
  • Report project progress, manage risk and resolve issues, and take required corrective action to guarantee project success.
  • Interacting with the research team to understand highly specific annotation, style, and editing requirements.
  • Writing guidelines and documentation, and training team members to follow them.
  • Work cross-functionally with members of research, product, design, and other teams, to ensure that the project requirements are being met.
  • Maintain frequent and close contact with all internal project stakeholders.
  • Share information and demonstrate effort for process improvement
  • Perform US English (en-US) writing and editing tasks.
  • Annotating, reviewing, and validating datasets for natural language processing/machine learning (NLP/ML) training and evaluation
  • Writing paraphrased versions of text samples in a highly specific manner according to tone, manner of speech, complexity, and many other factors
  • Editing text to correct grammar and fluency/naturalness
  • Train team members on complex product features, task guidelines, and processes
  • Monitor and review team member performance and work quality
  • Instruct team members on writing and revising documentation, and review documentation for quality and consistency
  • Conduct evaluations to assess the quality of task design and the resulting data
  • Perform tasks related to data annotation and generation, which may include data analysis, small coding projects based on requirements from the research team, and research
