Responsibilities

The State Farm Research and Development Center is a place where interns complete innovative, meaningful research in a collaborative environment focused on developing technical and business skills - a perfect complement to the classroom. Interns provide analysis and solutions through:

• Assessment of risk and financial needs for insurance products
• Development of innovative methods and applications to enhance insurance product pricing
• Data mining and predictive modeling such as regression, forecasting, and machine learning
• Research on emerging industry trends and hot topics

Qualifications

The internship program provides opportunities for year-round positions for all student levels, freshman - graduate students. We offer development through extensive training programs, leadership, as well as competitive compensation/benefits.

As an intern in Enterprise Technology, you work on a product team that works collaboratively, using Agile methodology. Interns challenge each other while completing a variety of projects and solving real world business problems. Interns can expect to complete technical IT work that contributes to State Farm through the development of emerging technologies that enhance our customers’ experience.

Competitive candidates will possess some of the following skills: Java, Python, HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics/Data Science, AWS, Database Management/Big Data (Hadoop), Computer Vision and Virtual Reality, Android/iOS.

• Dates: Monday, August 21, 2023- Friday, December 8, 2023
• Location: State Farm Research and Development Center, 2001 S. 1st Street, Suite 102, Champaign, IL 61820
• Format: Hybrid- intern will work some shifts in-office
• Hours: 10-15 hours weekly Monday-Friday

*Students must be enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
