The Data Science & Analytics organization's mission is to increase our speed, frequency, and acumen of making decisions at scale by instilling a data-influenced approach to building products. WHY APP EXPERIENCE?

The AppPlayer Experience team is responsible for creating a cohesive and delightful user experience across the entire consumer-facing app. You'll work across multiple teams and functions to understand how the broader player ecosystem operates, and how we can improve it. You'll leverage statistics, analytics, and experiments to develop and drive the strategic direction of your partner UX, UXR, Product, and Engineering teams that are missioned to elevate the Roblox experience by accelerating the Roblox app strategy through product architecture, and influence decisions on improving app performance & reliability, navigation, visual architecture, and data integrity. app performance & reliability, data integrity, navigation, and visual architecture

You Are:

• Passionate about data. You have the curiosity and self-drive to continuously learn new techniques and tools to extract value from data. You have a degree in Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, or other relevant fields.
• A strong communicator. You understand that analysis must be presented in meaningful ways and engage in spirited discussions about the findings. You have the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and discuss appropriate tradeoffs.
• A capable statistician. You understand the value of characterizing data by its distribution. Covariance, Bias, and Conditional Probability are concepts that you rely on every day.
• An expert transforming data with SQL and a scripting language such as Python or R. You're experienced in automating efforts and crunching massive volumes of data using big data frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop or Flink.
• Experienced in developing models to draw insights from data. You use regression techniques, data mining, and statistical techniques to create new, scalable solutions to solve difficult business problems. You understand when to apply the appropriate methodology to maximize impact in a pragmatic fashion.

You Will:

• Accelerate product development through your understanding of the underlying data and your ability to partner with product and technical leaders to provide insights that drive growth.
• Access raw data, and then transform it, analyze it, and render it in a compelling way--all using a custom analytics tool kit built from state-of-the-art open-source libraries.
• Build dashboards to understand the root causes of changes in metrics.
• Evaluate A/B experiments to determine the success of product feature launches.
• Influence how Roblox provides a better experience for the community of players and developers.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of industry experience in analytics
• 2+ years experience in scripting languages for DS like Python or R
• 6+ months of experience using big data query/processing languages and tools such as SQL, Hive, Spark and Airflow
• Experience with SQL flavors for data querying
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Financial Mathematics or other technical field

Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD in Computer Science, Applied Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, Economics or other technical field
• 2+ years of industry experience in a leadership role collaborating with cross-functional partners
• 4+ years of experience in fast-paced environment or fast-growing company, such as the tech sector
• Interest and past experience leading and mentoring others as an individual contributor
• Experience working with infrastructure teams and content platforms, particularly user-generated content
• Ability to communicate analytics results, model outputs, and data storytelling to influence product teams and leaders

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Annual Salary Range

$295,490—$310,270 USD
