The Opportunity

Denali is seeking a highly motivated individual with strong statistical methodology knowledge, R programming expertise and problem-solving skills to join us for a summer Biostatistician internship in the Biometrics group at Denali Therapeutics. The successful candidate will support impactful projects related to reviewing literature, analyzing real-world data, developing new statistical methodologies and running simulations with guidance from a mentor. The intern will gain an in-depth understanding of drug development, experience working in a fast-moving industry environment, and subject domain knowledge in the field of neurodegeneration.

Responsibilities

  • Support topics related to but not limited to key study design and analysis of clinical trials, analysis of biomarker data, or development of statistical methodology
  • Research and apply appropriate statistical methods as well as evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the various methods via simulation.
  • Document statistical models and create maintainable/reproducible code for data analyses to be shareable within the department.
  • Present the results at cross-functional and departmental meetings at the conclusion of the internship. 

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or recent graduate in a PhD program in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related science discipline.
  • Strong interest in biotech/pharma, clinical trials and drug development.
  • Proficiency with using R (tidyverse, Rmarkdown, ggplot2) and GitHub to create operational, robust, well-documented code; familiarity with creating interactive web apps (R Shiny, plotly dashboard, htmlwidgets) and AWS S3 is a plus. 
  • Experience with simulations.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to identify issues and seek solutions independently.
