Overview: Lead Machine Learning Operations Engineer

Position can be done Remote (Work from Home)

The Lead Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Engineer works with a team of engineers and data scientists to aid in the design and development of machine learning frameworks to accelerate development and productionalization of models.

This position supports Mercy’s efforts to deliver on the vision of personalized, predictive, and proactive care.

The Lead MLOps Engineer assists in defining and implementing best practices and leverages their prior engineering, data science, and machine learning experience to build and maintain Mercy’s ML platform and infrastructure. This position completes more advanced and complex projects assigned by the MLOps Director or escalated by the MLOps team. This position serves as lead for engineering projects and mentors the MLOps team.

The Lead MLOps Engineer effectively documents, develops, and communicates project plans and analytic findings with a variety of technical/non-technical stakeholders. This position will report to the Director of MLOps.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:At least 6 years experience in a similar role.
  • Required Education:Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Other:
  • Experience building end-to-end systems as a ML DevOps Engineer or DevOps Platform Engineer
  • Awareness of critical concepts in MLOps, DevOps, and Agile principles
  • Familiarity with one or more ML-oriented workflow orchestration frameworks (MLflow, KubeFlow, Valohai, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud and applications development
  • Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Have a strong knowledge of electronic medical record data, clinical data, claims data, or financial data.
  • Advanced python and related programming skills
  • Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and concepts.
  • Ability to deploy healthcare-relevant predictive and prescriptive models.
  • Experience with Cloud-based data and AI solutions, especially in implementation and operationalization of Machine Learning based solutions.
  • Hands on experience with big data ecosystems, machine learning pipelines, model development lifecycle and operation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Flexible, dynamic personality who works well in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, an orientation toward detail, and collaboration oriented.
