What you’ll do

SAS, an undisputed leader in enterprise Analytics, is looking for an innovative product manager to help drive strategy for its market leading machine learning software. This role requires collaborating across all product-related activities from vision to go-to-market to customer impact, including engaging with customers to understand their needs, developing product strategy, defining roadmap, working with development to add features as part of a continuous delivery pipeline and coordinating with various internal stakeholders to ensure whole-company readiness.

You will work with a team of passionate machine learning developers who are making it easy to create and operationalize analytical models. You will be a self-starter who will not only brings to market state-of-the-art machine learning technologies but will also collaborate with other teams to embed machine learning capabilities across the SAS platform and in products that sit on top of SAS platform.

You will:

  • Own the product vision and direction for machine learning algorithms, including specialty areas such as reinforcement learning, synthetic data generation, and GPU utilization
  • Manage a roadmap that balances long-term business drivers (e.g. strategic direction, competitive differentiation, revenue, user-count, etc.) with short-term market needs
  • Evangelize products with passion and advocate for the end user; cultivate close relationships with customers and bring their needs into product planning
  • Inspire and work closely with engineering to prioritize new product features based on market requirements, available resources, and product release cycle timelines
  • Provide technical content for marketing materials and develop strong product positioning and competitive differentiation messages
  • Provide technical expertise to presales, professional services, technical support, and enablement teams worldwide, with the goal to enable SAS customers to develop solutions that address specific business problems
  • Support the SAS presence at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events
  • Provide support for strategic sales opportunities as needed

What we’re looking for

This role requires the ability to interact with technical experts in the machine learning domain. You should be able to develop a 1-2 year view of where you want the technology to land but balance that with what the team needs to deliver in the near term. You should be curious and adaptable – this is an evolving space and customer needs/demands are dynamic. You must be able to work well with other Product Management counterparts and R&D leaders. Finally, you will be expected to be authentic and accountable - work hard, be committed to excellence and deliver results.

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Good knowledge of machine learning algorithms and a solid understanding of general data science methods, including issues and challenges in developing machine learning applications
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and experience in working with resource constrained teams to deliver outstanding results
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (as the job requires)

Nice to have

  • 3+ years’ experience in product management – owning a directly relevant product or one related to machine learning
  • Familiarity with one or more open-source packages and libraries (R statistical libraries, scikit-learn, PyTorch, etc)
  • Experience with the software product development lifecycle, CI/CD methodologies, abd requirements management tools such as Jira

  • Ability to translate complex technical and business information for diverse audiences. Excellent speaking/listening/writing skills, attention to details, proactive self-starter.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and negotiation skills
