Job Description

As the Data Science Manager. you will help our organization leverage data and work with and through a team of data scientists and engineers to provide valuable direction and insight, for management to make informed decisions. You will direct the data science group to empower data-informed decision-making for product, growth and engagement, and other areas relevant to our organization.

How you will contribute:

  • Gather and identify local data science projects/initiatives/requests in collaboration with local/global MS teams, and other local functions.
  • You willbe the lead for the Digital and Data Sciences (DDS) team within the Manufacturing Sciences (MS) organization.
  • In addition to owning, and managing local MS data science initiatives, the other core responsibility of the DDS team is to ensure the manufacturing processes are monitored and in a state of control.
  • Statistical and analytical expertise is required for developing Continued Process Verification (CPV) plans and helping troubleshooting adverse process trends by proactive data analyses. You willwork with the Subject Matter Experts and IT team to develop systems for the trending and analysis of process data.
  • You willsolve complex data analysis problems and address current issues at the site requiring data analytics solutions.
  • You willteach and mentorothers in data systems and statistical analysis.
  • Systems expert for Discoverant system
  • Drivethe execution for local implementation of MS data science roadmap initiatives
  • Owns, managesand drives local data science initiatives according to prioritization. Manage the respective functional and cross-functional interdependencies accordingly
  • Manage and driveimprovements on local process monitoring and process improvement
  • Support and participate in global/functional/local GMS data science community
  • Drivenecessary local trainings and provides mentorship for knowledge transfer of big data analytics, coding/programming
  • Help develop and maintainCPV plans, including reports
  • Perform data analyses using applicable analytical systems
  • Proactivelyaddressescurrent issues requiring data analytics
  • Help investigate adverse trends and implementing proactive measures to reduce manufacturing risks and variation
  • Expected to learn manufacturing or relevant process knowledge required to executedata analytics projects and CPV
  • Compositional data analysis and analyzing time series data
  • Distributed computing, stochastic modelling, sampling methods and randomized algorithms
  • Explainable Artificial Intelligence methods
  • Analyze and solve complex problemsthrough creative thought and experience
  • Understanding of biochemistry or protein separation, plasma protein knowledge preferred.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • Bachelors' Degree in quantitative field, e.g. in Engineering, Mathematics, IT, Economics or Physics with focus on either Control Theory/Statistics/Mechatronics, Information/Operation, Management/Strategy/Economics, Technology and Innovation Management
  • Advanced Degree in Data Analytics preferred
  • 6+ years' work experiencein data analysis related position or equivalent academic experience/course record
  • Hands-on experience applying and executingArtificial Intelligence/Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Big Data and Digital with respective programming knowledge
  • Strongexpertise and experiencein Digital/Big Data Analytics/ Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning algorithms, respective programming knowledge
  • Programming experience is required
  • Proficiency in database languages (SQL), understanding of data models and databases
  • Capabilities to translate business needsinto data analytics concepts and vice versa
  • Hands-on, able to implement and executedata science initiatives, analysis, machine learning
  • Project management skills
  • Can teach and mentorother team members and manage/lead teams
  • Experienced in using statistical process control, control chart and process capability techniques
  • Can analyze and interpret scientific and statistical data.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, Discoverant, OSI Pi, and SQL
  • Experienced understanding ofGxP and related regulations.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.
  • Need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and/or artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a cold, wet environment.
  • Work multiple shifts, including weekends, or be asked to work supplemental hours, as necessary.
  • Work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.
