As a Data Scientist at TELUS, you’ll be in great company, working alongside some of the brightest and most creative Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Strategists. What you’ll do

• Build and improve Natural Language Processing (NLP) models in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to understand customers’ interactions.
• Engage with various stakeholders to understand their needs and to share your results.
• Support and evolve the AI Insights roadmap by leveraging industry research, best practices, and emerging tools/technologies.
• Identify opportunities for process/model optimization and refine to improve effectiveness/accuracy and enhance ROI 
• Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers within TELUS as well as external Data Science communities

What you bring

• You have 2+ years experience in an advanced data related position
• You have a growth mindset. You believe in continuous learning, and you are not afraid to ask questions. 
• Expert knowledge in building models in a cloud platform (preferably Google Cloud Platform)
• You have solid development experience with Python and are comfortable with using GitHub
• You have beginner/Intermediate SQL skills
• You have previous NLP experience
• You are capable of delivering technical and complex concepts in a way that is understood by non-technical audiences
• You are a collaborative, creative, open-minded individual who possesses a natural curiosity and desire to experiment. 

Great-to-haves

• Masters or PhD in a quantitative field such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or Data Science
• Deep Learning knowledge including transformers (Bert, Hugging Face)
• Data visualization experience: Data Studio, Tableau, PowerBI, Domo, or Looker
