Job Description

The Communications Specialist coordinates the internal communications that occur within the organization. Devices, designs, and edits communication for items such as memos, emails, fundraisers, contests, brochures, newsletters, and other internal publications. Writes, copyedits, proofreads, and revises communications content as necessary. Prepares strategic communication plans for the company. Ensures communication strategy is consistent and reflects the organization's strategic vision. He or she partners with the different directors, managers, key stakeholders, and contacts within other TELUS International departments to identify audiences and communication needs for their respective groups. The position also consults with stakeholders to determine the key messages, delivery methods, and frequencies for TELUS International Artificial Intelligence Data Solutions communication that supports overall strategic objectives, and at the same time, upholds the TELUS branding policies.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the internal communication strategy for TIAI 
  • Work supported by the creatives and communications team in TIAI to create and track internal communications campaigns and messages that inform our team members engaging them in our caring culture 
  • Support events and activities that end up in increasing the loyalty and reducing attrition of our team members in TIAI 
  • Support Human Resources in corporate events and activities. 
  • Support Human Resources to ensure team members are always informed and updated about the day-to-day of TIAI and the different geos in the world. 
  • Create and post content and moderate online communities for TIAI. 
  • Support the design, implementation, and execution of the company-wide communication strategy which needs to be aligned with the company’s vision and overall business strategy, while using and upholding the corporate branding policies that attract and engage potential team members, supporting the sourcing strategies for Talent Acquisition
  • Consult with the Senior Leadership, the Communications Manager and the different program/department leaders to identify message types, audiences, and delivery methods most appropriate to their respective groups within and outside the company. Identifies, documents, and manages the communication requirements of the varied audiences within the organization (i.e., perform communication needs analysis with communication clients). 
  • Handle requests from the Global Marketing and Communications team from TELUS and TELUS International, reports to them any request from external media for information, supports Jeff’s agenda and events brief creations and requests approvals from such tams for any press release or communications being sent to the media

Knowledge:

  • B2+ English level written and verbal. 
  • Oral and written comprehension. 
  • Appropriate use of language. 
  • Proficient in handling budget and reporting duties
  • Excellent advisory skills and confidence in giving advice and information to senior managers
  • An excellent understanding of the media and social platforms and trends
  • The ability to think spontaneously and respond positively to pressure 
  • Self-confidence and the ability to ‘sell’ ideas

Studies & Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in Psychology or any Bachelor's in Arts
  • 1 year as a communications specialist in the fields of advertising and/or corporate communications
  • Proficient in copywriting (in English), media planning and modern digital platforms for advertising 
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills (business correspondence), in tone and style for each situation. 
  • Advanced user for Microsoft Office / Google Apps
