Job Description

Job Description:

  • The data science specialist will provide data science and digital services at a Waltham, MA facility initially and moving into a Cambridge, Cambridge, MA location on a date to be determined, anticipated to be towards the end of 2022.
  • Provide on-site service to for iCMC (eLNB and related data infrastructure implementation and maintenance) and connect iCMC to simulation and data visualization software
  • Integrate lab equipment/instrumentation with controls software to automate process development operations
  • Maintain compliance with safety and training as required

Data Science support activities:

  • Connect standard lab data and metadata generation equipment such as lab printers, tablets, HPLCs, balances, etc. to Biovia’s eLNB iLab using protocols provided by the iCMC team and maintaining it during normal service
  • Create scripts using Python, Matlab, Java, or other appropriate software to deliver alpha solutions that provide two-way connections for non-standard data and metadata between lab instrumentation and iLab (eLNB)
  • Provide ability to access data and metadata from the iCMC data lake that can be used in data visualization and simulation software (i.e. Matlab or R WebApp, gPROMS system models and Dynochem kinetic models)
  • Integrate equipment/instrumentation with controls software (i.e. Labview) to deliver automated lab process development systems (e.g., reactor systems)
  • Train scientific staff on the above iCMC and digital tools

Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science or related field or BS with at least 4 years of experience in the same
  • Skilled in the use of programming languages such as Python, Matlab, and Java as well as controls software such as Labview
  • Good interpersonal, communication skills (oral and written) and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and set own schedule

Position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Cambridge, MA are encouraged to apply. Initially, these activities will be carried out at a site in Waltham, MA, then transfer to a site in Cambridge, MA (relocation anticipated towards the end of 2022).
