Job Description

Salesforce.com Change Manager's role is to assist the Technology and Security departments in reviewing and classifying changes to the production environment. Change Managers build, document and socialize processes to help coordinate the thousands of changes every month that are performed.

The Change Manager ensures that standardized methods and procedures are used for efficient and timely handling of all changes. As part of the Change and Release Cloud, you will be responsible for working cross functionally to ensure that change management can be done at scale via tooling and partnering with all teams delivering change and with the Site Reliability departments. A key goal will be minimizing the adverse impacts of incidents on the business by improving risk evaluations and by helping teams adhere to controls.

The candidate will be instrumental in Salesforce’s move to a service ownership approach for Change Management procedures and applying automation and DevOps principles. Finding ways to do the job in an automated way and reducing friction for consumers of the Change Management processes, will be accomplished by the candidate finding opportunities and driving meaningful initiatives to successful closure.

The candidate will analyze data models to help define the next generation change management system; will understand Salesforce and acquisitions CI/CD/Access Control tools to define interfaces to those systems for implementing change management controls; will use Tableau and Einstein Analytics to understand and provide insights about Salesforce’s complex systems in order to use data science to identify and reduce risk of changes; will develop and deliver tools to improve efficiency for the team via slackbots or other workflows.Responsibilities:

  • Automation of operations in Change management with building workflows, slackbots and other optimizations to apply DevOps to change management process
  • Data analysis, data modeling and data /ETL system design and dashboard creation - in Tableau or other similar system to develop forensics or other operational transparency
  • Ability to communicate planning of Policy control around change management from the executive level to individual contributors
  • Develop working relationships with pertinent groups: Release Management, Configuration Management, Implementation Management (Engineering)
  • Lead change lifecycle: Logging and filtering, Classification, Assessment, Authorization, Coordination and Evaluation of changes that affect the Salesforce enterprise

Required Skills/Experience:

  • The applicant will ideally have experience operating or engineering large-scale enterprise environments, which includes online transaction processing, Internet services, Application Services Provider, or similar enterprise services or solutions
  • Experience with data modeling, analytics tools and crafting dashboards to provide data insights
  • Ability to develop in Python, Apex, SQL , ETL, SOQL to apply DevOps principles, automation and observability to change management data and process
  • Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent

Desired Skills/Experience

  • DevOps experience with focus on backend and data
  • ITIL Foundations certification
  • PMP Certification
  • Understanding of Agile methodology
  • Lean-Agile methodology
  • Awareness of Change Management automation
