Job Description – Data Scientist, Supply Chain

About Our Team

The Supply Chain Data Science and Analytics team (within Digital Transformation organization at Lenovo) builds and deploys sophisticated data science techniques to optimize the performance of Lenovo’s Global Supply Chain practices around the world, including Demand and Sales Forecasting, Supply Forecasting, Inventory Optimization, Manufacturing, Product and Quality analytics, Sourcing and Supplier Performance Management Analytics, etc.

We are seeking a Data Scientist with experience working for a multi-national enterprise utilizing multiple datasets and running advanced analytics for its global supply chain.

What You’ll Do

Your role is to build and provide accurate, timely, relevant, and quality analysis while driving real-time insights for a dynamic business.

You will be reporting to the Analytics Director in the company’s Global Analytics Hub. You will offer effective reporting, insight and analysis for multiple stakeholders, internal clients, locations, and priorities. You will be working hands-on to build proof of concepts and support delivery of full-scale and flexible solutions while ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities-

  • Create, evolve, and provide insights related to supply chain that impact the wider business
  • Present findings developed through descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics
  • Understand business needs, objectives and market when implementing analysis strategies
  • Liaise internally within the team and externally with stakeholders in the business to complete analytics, reporting, and implementation of analytics-driven change
  • Assist in development and testing of analytics proofs-of-concept across all functional data sets
  • Research and apply multidisciplinary techniques, findings and approaches to solutions that drive understanding of the business’ markets, customers, and opportunities
  • Explore data, and review, implement and analyze algorithms that will substantially impact the company’s understanding of its data and its opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in the development of tools and applications to present insights to the stakeholder base
  • Work with and mentor junior team members
  • Work with the Analytics Director to define key questions and projects to transform the business

Position Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in IT, Mathematics, Sciences, Engineering, or other technical discipline
  • 2+ years of experience deploying data science techniques in industry
  • Proficiency in using SQL, R and Python for ETL
  • Proficiency in using Python for modeling and algorithm development
  • Ability to provide insights from multiple raw and refined data sources
  • Ability to understand and extract data from large and complex data sets, including experience with large-scale algorithms
  • Knowledge of data quality measurements, methodology, and reporting tools
  • Knowledge of inferential statistics methods, machine learning and model building techniques, and market leading data analysis tools and platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management skills and experience with end-to-end project management processes is a plus
  • Strong results driven personality, with a high level of enthusiasm, energy, and confidence
  • Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and presentation skills
  • Ability to automate ETL processes is a plus
