About Quora:
Quora’s mission is to grow and share the world’s knowledge. To do so, we have two knowledge sharing products:
Behind these products are passionate, collaborative, and high-performing global teams. We have a culture rooted in transparency, idea-sharing, and experimentation that allows us to celebrate success and grow together through meaningful work. Join us on this journey to create a positive impact and make a significant change in the world.
This role will be working on our Poe product.
About the Team and Role:
Our small engineering team tackles challenging problems every day. We value a culture of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging our engineers to think big and experiment with new ideas. With continuous deployment, we quickly see our changes live in the product and iterate rapidly. We focus on creating polished products and writing high-quality code by designing APIs and abstractions that are extensible and maintainable. At Quora, development velocity is crucial, and we invest heavily in improving tools, abstractions, and frameworks to empower developers to move faster and achieve more with a lean team.
The Platform team focuses on making product developers (engineers, designers, data scientists) more productive by building tools, frameworks, and abstractions that simplify their work. This team’s projects range from developing reusable UI component libraries and improving front-end debugging tools to accelerating code deployment and optimizing site performance. Recently, the team has led efforts to migrate Quora’s legacy front-end system to modern frameworks (React, GraphQL, Relay). This role has a particular emphasis on front-end frameworks and tools that support the Poe product, making it ideal for engineers excited about empowering others through great front-end infrastructure.
In this role, you’ll work closely with other team members to improve the efficiency of product developers across Poe and Quora, with a front-end lean. You’ll collaborate with Poe product teams to understand pain points and build tools to help them move faster. You’ll primarily work with modern JavaScript frameworks like React, NextJS, GraphQL, and Relay, while also occasionally working across the stack in Python. This is a great opportunity for full-stack engineers with a front-end focus who are passionate about building reliable, performant products and helping other developers succeed.
