Location: Boston, MA (Hybrid 2–3 days/week) or Remote (for qualified candidates)
Program Duration: 14 weeks (Internship) or 6 months (Co-op)

Position Overview
The Machine Learning Research team at CodaMetrix is dedicated to pioneering innovative machine learning and AI solutions using healthcare data to improve administrative and clinical outcomes. We are seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Research Intern to contribute to the development of novel statistical and machine learning methods tailored to healthcare challenges.

In this role, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor who will guide you through task-specific training, facilitate ongoing learning, and provide regular check-ins for knowledge sharing. You’ll also have access to a curated repository of learning resources, including research articles, slide decks, online courses, and videos.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on cutting-edge techniques in deep learning, NLP, and large language models (LLMs)
• Collaborate closely with the ML Research team to design and develop advanced machine learning models, tailored to specific project goals
• Evaluate models against industry benchmarks and internal baselines to ensure measurable improvements
• Implement interpretable and explainable features to enhance model transparency and usability in real-world healthcare applications

Requirements

• Enrolled in or recently completed a graduate-level program (Master’s or PhD) in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, NLP, Computer Science, or a related field
• Minimum of two years of graduate-level academic experience in machine learning, deep learning, or NLP
• Strong interest and demonstrated initiative in advancing machine learning and deep learning expertise
• Proficiency with PyTorch or TensorFlow, with a solid understanding of model development best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with clinical or healthcare-related data
• Familiarity with large language models and their applications in NLP or healthcare
• Understanding of interpretable ML techniques and best practices for model explainability

Work Format
